I'm not a die hard Cash fan, so I didn't know about Walk The Line....but I'll check that out. I agree about the Doors movie...I'll be happy with that. They concrentrated more on the music and added his personal problems and death at the end of the movie. I'm not saying most of the movie should be about clubbing, Sex Drugs and Aids. I think most of it should be about the music and live Aid, but the last part of the movie, say the last 20 minutes should show his illness, and how the band carried on despite the circumstances. Making some of their best songs in the process.

If they do a movie about Johnny Cash will they leave out the heart breaking End with him singing the song Hurt? Even if it's only the last 10 minutes of the movie you can't erase those last couple of years.
They did a movie about Cash (Walk The Line starring Joaquin Phoenix) and they did not include his final years, it actually ends at his highest point, and it´s an amazing movie! you really should check it out.

Anyways, I think it will be great if they do a first movie that ends at Live Aid, and then a second movie about the final 5 years of Queen. Or maybe even a movie about the making of Made In Heaven, with flashbacks of the finals years of Freddie.

I agree with Walk The Line being incredible. However, what is one of the most publicized deaths of all time? Who is the most famous person to die of AIDS? Who is the person in history most commonly associated with the AIDS epidemic? You can't possibly write a movie about Freddie Mercury and leave out his death.

Had Freddie lived until he was 71, not been gay, not had AIDS and dies of natural causes related to diabetes...a chronic illness - i completely agree... his death would be the least interesting thing about him.

ie. Johnny Cash... or even eventually... David Bowie (Cancer). You would leave out his death if you did a Bowie biopic. It really is the least interesting thing about his life.

But Freddie had AIDS... a horrible disease that was not well understood at the time. Was untreatable at the time. Was a death sentence once you found out. This is pure fucking drama. You can't leave out AIDS, unfortunately. While it may be noble to completely exclude it - it's not dramatically responsible.
Great point. I agree 100%

He was also the first Rock Star to die from that disease....correct me if I'm wrong. While rock stars dying of drug overdoses are common...Aids is a more dramatic story. Especially given the UK press and how they treated him. I think they should show how messed up the UK press are and were back then.

Do you have much screenwriting experience?

I'm allowed too have an opinion about how this movie should be done. I been a die hard fan for almost 30 years. I'm more Qualified than most producers who in all honesty only know Bo Rhap and we will Rock You. Most people on this site would do a better Job than Brian May and Roger, who at the end of the day are going too protect the bands reputation Instead of telling the truth. Tell a story about this cute band Queen that the children will go and see.

Some of you have such a negative nature. To an extent that a new movie is written off before we have even seen a trailer. No matter what they include in this film people will be unhappy on here. In fact I understand why Queen think more about the general public than the hardcore Queen fan. Queen fans are impossible to satisfy anyway. And secondly its not the tiny group of hardcore Queen fans who will make them money anyway. So why bother with us fans? The upside is much bigger if they manage to create some interest in the general public.
Basically blind em and deaf em in the first 10 minutes, and while they are recovering from that put in the less good songs

Mike Hunt: Of course you are allowed to have your own opinion. What you want is a documentary. If you have given up the film already I expect you wont be watching it at all. Why should you? You have decided its shit before we have even seen 5 seconds of it. Do you think Queen were a hardcore band after rock standards? Well, if there are cute stories in the rock world from the 70s Queen are probably one of them.

movies don't need to be good anymore - they just need to attract enough attention in their first week to be success. they key is monitoring a lean budget and have at least one recognizable star.

40% of the producers are members of Queen, plus Jim Beach

You're allowed opinions, but we're allowed to point out factual errors and have our own opinions....

Of course we're going to disagree on certain things....but, Sometimes it takes an outside source to make a proper movie about a band. Not the band themselves......while I do agree Queen wern't a hardcore party band as a whole I think It's a fact freddie was. I read an article about Elton a few months ago where he stated (not many people in my day could out party me In the 70's/early 80's, but Freddie Mercury did. Now Freddie Mercury could party) are they going to make him out too be a saint and make a disney movie? Or tell the true story? I never said the movie will be shit if they don't make It a certain way. The movie could mostly be about live Aid and still be a good movie, but going by their track record since Freddie died I would bet against it. They got very little right in the last 26 years.

I think it's great it ends with Live Aid, in respect of Freddie's wish "never make me boring", he also liked to have a good time.

Also the entertainment value will be better, I think. Go out of the theatre on a good feeling - hopefully!

Made In Heaven, Rainbow, live at the Bowl. The only thing missing is a proper Anothology and maybe a late 70's DvD. I think this movie is a good opportunity for them to reach a new generation the way Waynes World did in the early 90's... If they get it right.

I hope so Mike! I am staying positive until the opposite is proven. I think life is more fun looking forward to things rather than expecting disaster all the time. But sure, they may get it wrong. I'll just cross that bridge when it is in front of me ;)

They won't be speaking about Montserrat Caballé and Barcelona?! I hope our assumptions are false.
