Or when / what order the videos were shot?
What was the first track, I know brian had a few ready very early on?
Sebastian, you are quite good at working this kind of thing out, do you know?

I would much rather have a discussion about it, as it's not, in fact, as 'Specifically documented' as Innuendo, or say, A night at the opera which have far more documentary and interviews about them.
They are more interesting to those in the general public so more is known about them, one because it's Queen's most famous album and the other because people are morbid. Obviously not all equal when it comes to information,

Perhaps you could, for example, provide a date for the Breakthru video, i know the location, i know it took two days of shooting but the actual date in 1988 it was filmed?
Or any source to back up Wikipedia's claim Scandal was filmed in September 1989?
This site has people who have met and interviewed those who would know, have discussed similar at conventions as well as had access to various fanclub documentation which might not be online for people like me, who doesn't.

As for the smartarse reply you're going to make on why i'd want to know, it's in case i ever go back in time somehow, being prepared for things like this never hurts.

Their were Miracle Sessions in 1988, just look at those.

I believe in Greatest Flix II's booklet it said that Breakthru' was filmed over 2 days, which included Roger's 40th Birthday, making it July 1989.

I *THINK* the album was recorded in 1988 and the videos were recorded in 1989, but I've really only the common knowledge information to go on here.

It would have to have been some time before the album came out.

EDIT: definitely not after release date, though.

The video for The Invisible Man was filmed on Roger's bday, Breakthru was filmed somewhere in June 89.

1. I Want It All - 22nd April 89 (Elstree Studios)
2. Breakthru - June 89 (Nene Valley Railway, Cambridgeshire)
3. The Invisible Man - 26th July 1989 (Pinewood Studios)
4. Scandal - 27th September 1989 (Pinewood Studios)
5. The Miracle - 23rd November 1989 (Elstree Studios)

All I know is that 'I Want It All' was written very early by Brian (end of 1987/beginning of 1988) because John said this song was written before they went into the studio which was in January 1988. 'Too Much Love Will Kill You' was written in July 88 when Brian was in LA. 'Khashoggi's Ship' was written after October 88 (Khashoggi was arrested at the end of October 88). The album was finished in Jan/Feb 1989.

That doesn't prove a thing. Khashoggi was already famous before that and it may have been a coincidence that they wrote a song name-dropping him and nine months or so later he was arrested. Sometimes coincidences do take place:

- BGT Series 3 using a lot of MJ songs for scene transitions and stuff. MJ would pass away a month or so later.

- A number of things (films, an album cover, etc) 'predicting' 911 (not really predicting it, just coincidentally having the Twin Towers removed from the landscape, etc). 'Under Pressure' itself: its final mix took place in New York on the 11th of September 1981. 'Burns a building down' indeed.

- The 'Ziggy' cover featuring a sign reading 'K. West' and starting off with a (great) song titled 'Five Years'. Five years later (missing the same exact date by a week and a half or so), Kanye West was born.

- When Lady Di died, a reporter commented on what the media would make of someone like Mother Teresa passing away. Guess who died a few days later!

So, no, the fact Mr K got arrested in October doesn't mean at all that it was physically impossible to write a song about his ship before that. It's not like he was an unknown civilian up to that point anyway... and it's not like they couldn't have bumped into him (or his ship).
John hated Hot Space. Frederick's favourite singer was not Paul Rodgers. Roger didn't compose 'Innuendo.' 'Bohemian Rhapsody' hasn't got 180 vocal overdubs.

Thank you, it's all very interesting, i'm suprised there are not more interviews about it's creation considering
it was Queen's return after 3 years.
I know it's a leap but i wonder if I Want It All was being considered for Back to Light.

But the arrest was mentioned in the song:

'Wanted to get me I said go away
I said kiss my ass honey
He pulled out a gun wanted to arrest me
I said uh uh uh babe'

Now the question is if that arrest was a reference to what happened in Oct 1988 or it is just a coincidence like you say?

Or maybe to Anita's album 'Talking Of Love' ? The song has its origins in Anita's words after all which inspired Brian to write the song.

Had the band already started to work on Innuendo by the time The Miracle video was shot?

The first track recorded topic is as well interesting. Nowhere on album Freddie's voice sounds as good as he did on Barcelona. It got noticeably huskier. But the work on both albums overlapped in time. So we can make a conclusion that no final take was recorded back then and even the earliest songs had to be finished later on.

For me even judging by one good recording from Time musical performance in April 1988 Freddie already sounds huskier than on Barcelona.
