I think we can say, looking at the evidence and hearing that Roger interview, is that things are over thought now. They worked better when they just DID stuff. Like Roger saying the other 2 weren't sure of doing the Tribute gig but I guess they were flying by the seat of their pants and threw caution to the wind and got on with it. Since then when they've been umming and ahing for years about plans, they generally are unsatisfying.
I screamlaughed the first time I heard the TV ad version of the song, but was then disappointed that he hadn't updated every single lyric to be Ford-related.
I really wanted to hear him spruik for the innovative transmission or the spectacular road holding, but in MUSIC form!
Dear Queen
We'd like to use I'm In Love With My Car in an advert. IS that OK?
Yours, Ford
*Brian hides letter from Roger and quickly rerecords his own current tune and coins it in*
I wonder were Queen asked rather than Brian himself to do it , seems like a strange choice just to ask Brian rather than the whole band , I’m sure it would have been a massive hit

Brian is obviously the coolest member who loves cars and not all that nerdy stuff Roger likes.

At the time, because of Freddie, Queen's profile was quite high. Brian was also launching his solo career.
He had the weight of the record company behind him as well as Jim Beach.
If Ford or an advertising agency approached Queen for an advert soundtrack it's pretty obvious now that they would have had to turn it down, unless it was a catalogue song. I'd imagine the thinking was the best way to get Brian out to the general public Esperanto to Queen was with something like this.
It was a calculated move like most things in most industries, the bottom line is selling songs.
It's a spammer. Don't bother replying. Doesn't this forum have mods? Why there's only two (to my knowledge, Richard and YourValentine) mods and why they won't give mod status to three or four of the regular users that they can trust?
