What if Queen had played MTV Unplugged if Freddie hadnt died? What it have been like? Here is my setlist idea:

01. Liar (shortened version)
02. Friends Will Be Friends (opening guitar part done on piano)
03. White Queen
04. Drowse
05. Misfire (John on Guitar and Brian on piano for guitar fills)
06. Mad The Swine
07. Somebody To Love (shortened before Brians solo)
08. 39
09. Love of My Live
10. Some Day One Day
11. Cool Cat
-encore 1-
12. Youre My Best Friend (Shortened)
13. Need Your Loving Tonight (would be great acoustic)
14. Radio Ga Ga (Keyboard parts are on piano)
-encore 2-
15. Las Palabas De Amor (Taped Intro)
16. Dreamers Ball
17. Man On The Prowl
18. Crazy Little Thing Called Love
-ending-
Prossecion

The setlist is different so that their are more acoustic songs

Realistically they would have pretty much played the hits. You have some fucking weird songs on there. Cool Cat??? Are you mental?

They would get the spelling right, that's for sure. :')
We love you Mandy!

Yes that seems a very likely set list

Wheres Hammer To Fall, Mother Down, Sail Away? What a douche..

Would've loved for Queen to do an acoustic show had things panned out differently.
Such a tremendous catalog that you wonder how they'd have arranged some of the bigger tunes to fit that particular setting.

They would have played a 47 minute version of Free Bird, followed by one verse of I Like Beer by Tom T. Hall.
The Golden Gate Bridge should have a long bungee cord for people who aren’t quite ready to commit suicide but want to get in a little practice.

i'll give it a shot:

1. Tie Your Mother Down (this would have been awesome as unplugged)
2. I Want To Break Free
3. The Miracle
4. '39
5. Dreamers Ball
6. Crazy Little Thing Called Love
7. Hammer To Fall (slow/fast)
8. Love Of My Life
9. Save Me
10. Under Pressure
11. A Kind Of Magic
12. These are The Days Of Our Lives
13. Bohemian Rhapsody unplugged (ie Layla unplugged)

(encore)

14. Is This The World We Created
15. In The Lap Of The Gods...revisited
16. Spread Your Wings

I don't think they would have touched the first 2 albums for an unplugged show and White Queen wouldn't work alongside most of their post 70s hits. They would have picked songs that *could* appeal to the MTV 90s crowd - ie. no opera and no Hot Space and no flamboyant tracks like Killer Queen and Don't Stop Me Now. And this would have likely taken place around 1993-1994... so BohRhap would be the showcase track due to Wayne's World. You can re-work BohRhap into a complete acoustic ballad the way Layla had been. They would have to drop the operatic section of course.

They would have played whichever songs from Wembley 86 worked acoustically plus TATDOOR.

The only good thing about Freddie dying was that Queen never did any of these completely idiotic Unplugged things. Take your biggest hits, make them ridiculously boring, make them all sound the same and there you have it - a bigger collection of crap than Cosmos Rocks.

Unfortunately, Brian did this and we now have the slow version of Hammer to Fall, which pretty much is the exact opposite of the awesome original version.

My setlist:

1) '39
2) Love of My Life
3) Dreamer's Ball
4) Is this the World

Then get out of there quckly before ruining any good high-energy songs.

guess you never got a chance to listen to nirvana's or clapton's set.

Great question as something similar was slated to happen in 2001 but didn't thanks to the USA and "Osama Bin Laden" (and possibly Israel)

But you have NO familiarity with setting up a show like that and a song list to run THE ARC necessary to catch (mirroring the marriage bit "something old something new something borrowed something blue")

Something to be familiar
something unexpected (probably up front *BUT NOT A LONG SONG)
something cheesy
something fun
something mesmerising
something quick
an old standard that floors the audience
a cover to diffuse things/if not a cover then a reimagining of a tried and tested song
a standard
a request from audience (via poll)
A closer
a surprise powerful performance that kids nobody about who they are (*as with songs 3-6)
WWRY
middle song WATC

.....everybody leaves shocked and inspired and wondering who the hell they just saw *(this was the 90's if QUEEN did it most hip family of the studio kids wouldn't know who the fuck they are)

**Unaired performances 8-11

Deep cuts

Here's my bit. It requires assuming they did it in 1990

TYMD (banter)
Who Needs You
Killer Queen (tease: Freddie was alive they'd get away with it)/Crazy Little Thing. ..
Big Spender (banter early days)
I Want it All (tease/vocals)/Fat Bottomed Girls
AOBTD (melodious and sparse)
My Melancholy Blues (oh that's so boring. ....like movies etc. ... glitz glam the fascinating artists and the flash of the camera. ..')
Flash (tease)/Save Me
BoRhap (possibly with choir dropping in)/strings
(Banter "it's just a song, some will think we've ruined it etc etc")

One from Brian..."

39'
Sweet Lady tease/I'm in love with my car (Fred at piano)
End w banter "always wanted to get that on the radio"...."only wanted fat bottomed girls"

Ooohh........I'd sit alone (piano/vox)
Radio Ga Ga
Medley (audience claps incorporated)
Ding ding ding ding
Death on Two legs.... up until, "of you own! "
Lazing on a Sunday.../Good Old Fashioned.../ (dark part) March of the Black Queen (possibly just the ending)
(Reminiscing: "we were once a big Rock band, now playing charity shows. ..etc")

UNAIRED: FATHER TO SON,
White Queen (aired)
Spread Your Wings (unaired)
Sleeping on the Sidewalk (unaired)
Dreamers Ball

WWRY
You Take My Breath Away (to audience hamming it up)
WATC

End.
