Towards the end. Did new Queen songs sound shit live

With old acts still performing and writing new albums. Rolling stones, Deff Leppard...( a great example of a band that has some wonderful albums but has essentially become a "one album wonder" band) Elton to name the key examples....
Acts such as these. No-one really goes to these shows to listen to their latest album songs to be honest....
Did Queen last long enough where their... well... their last album to result in a tour... where fans were just going to see them for the songs of yesteryear and not really giving two shits for the new album or were their last few albums still relevant enough to leave fans excited to hear how or what songs they were going to play off their latest album. On that note...

Was QUEEN ever to become that group.. where, they would tour or play 40 nights in Vegas.... exclusively playing one album in its entirety I.e ANATO or....
Where....releasing an album was just an excuse of going through the emotions of studio time knowing that they were never going to ever consider playing a track and just focus on their past hits? Or...
Where Queen the masters of keeping with the times, making good relevant hits music, worthy of the stage and still have a hardcore following to justify and to beable to pull off a blast from the past to play a number from Q2 or the Jazz album or perform a medley of old numbers....

Another good example to add.. more relevant bands Megadeth, Metallica and Iron Maiden.... consistent with writing new material... whether it's worthy of the live stage and taking it's place over a classic song is up for debate but.... those three bands tend to almost exclusively perform a setlist containing everything but songs from the last five albums I.e countdown to extinction/Black album/Somewhere back in time...
ACDC though!!!!! This is a great example of a band an "old/1970s" classic band that manages to make new music sound so fresh new and relavant today... well fair to say their run is over but... the last album managed to produce hits and good stage anthems. I think ACDC at the masters of reinventing the same basic sound and doing it well. Don't think there is one album where one song is not stage material. Some weak ones but non that they can't pull off. A band that pulls only stadium filling crowds and nothing less.... possibly the only "70s" band that Queen would have rivaled in the 90s and today on the charts for new music???

We can only speculate. I have the feeling that in pop music, most bands tend to peak in terms of creative output and musical relevance when the singers-songwriters are in their 20s to early 40s. I see no special reason why Queen could not have gone the same way as so many of the great acts from the 60s and 70s from the mid-1990s onward.

By the time they hit Jazz they were firmly in the bracket of clearing out the new songs from the setlist to make way for newer songs off the latest release. Standard form considering the size of the catalogue by that point - Queen's job was to promote the new stuff and please the casual punters. Fair dos they would put in some treats now and then but even that might have been misguided and much safer than it could've been. This is of course contradicted by having the preposterous wig outs of the guitar solo and GDML in the set, but I think by that point they had become notable items in the set, and necessary to allow what was essentially a breather for the rest of the band.

Having such a perfect set closer as WATC is a no brainer. That said, Bowie soon grew weary of Rock N Roll Suicide (his own tailor made set climax) but he sailed a slightly more dangerous course live - and seemed to prefer just playing something dancy at the end of his sets post '74

I do think that Queen followed the flow thrue the years except from the start. It would have been an awesome band in the 90's.

The Magic Tour debuted A Kind of Magic and I Want To Break Free, and the live versions of both converted the bland sounding pop records to a harder edged edition. Who Wants To Live Forever also worked line for me, and Radio Ga Ga and Hammee To Fall - both recent tracks - both have their definitive live versions on that tour.

Is this really worth discussing ?

Megadeth indeed usually plays very little new stuff. But Metallica? 1/3 of their current setlist comes from the new album.

As for me: I've read the stupidest things on here about Freddie's chest wig and nobody seems to have a problem with that. So, who knows? Maybe I see more value in the OP's question about this band's music.

Queen were just a band but a band that was very strict with what it did so basically it was album tour album tour etc.... and the set lists did get adjusted and if Freddie was in a very good mood one would get a treat with the set list of a nice surprise be it jailhouse rock or Big Spender.
