Treating people differently, including allowing or disallowing them to do certain things, based on their race, IS racism. Not "a form" of racism, but clear racism.
Your example has nothing to do with this case. If I understand the case correctly (if not, ignore this part), they didn't want to cast her in a role which was written to be black, but she was only planning to sing a song, which was previously sung by a black person.

Basically Mazz Murray has been told she can't sing a song at a concert because she is not black, because the song is from a show in which the character who sings the song is black.
Far from losing the plot Brian is absolutely right, this I'd small minded and racist.
Should white blues players and singers be stopped performing songs that were written by black song writers as the characters in the songs were probably black.
Should Queen have ever played Big Spender and should every white guitar player stop playing Jimi Hendrix songs.
A singer singing a song in a concert,mis very different to a singer/ actor taking a part in production that was written for a specific gender or race.
