Mike Smith was a fairly innocuous presence as a tv presenter. A bit bland but vaguely likeable. His big failure was that he had the chance to assassinate Noel Edmonds but failed to do so. But at least he didn't put on a ridiculous mid-Atlantic accent as did many English DJs did back then.

Heh. Freddie turns the homeless and poor into stars. Is it a metafor on Freddie turning the previous Smile-members into stardom? :P
Basically blind em and deaf em in the first 10 minutes, and while they are recovering from that put in the less good songs

He is the single greatest threat to humanity since battered Mars bars.

John Peel 'It's those Sun City boys at Number 6... Queen'.

I'm surprised they're allowed to show any of his shows again. If you know what I mean.

An episode of Top Of The Pops with the A Kind Of Magic video was shown the other day.

Here's the link:

Go to about 26:35 in the video.

Yeah I saw that (it's the only TV I watch, apart from Fake Or Fortune). I think that must've been the thing I was thinking of, although for some reason I remembered it as showing Freddie walking to the theatre in the video. Ah well, I'm obviously losing the plot :D

They're on there tonight. I have a feeling it might be the POTU video. I missed this episode at the time, but my pal at school saw it and was raving about the song and we'd listen to his audio recording of it off the TV.
