The Miracle... hmm, at the time I thought it was fairly weak, but WIAWI seemed like a fantastic way to end a career, and i did think it was going to be the last ever Queen song. Im glad it wasnt though, Innuendo was a real return to form for me and TSMGO turned out to be an even more fitting finale. Also, looking back you can see how Miracle is a stepping stone to Innuendo. Anyhow, i like a lot of the songs on the Miracle but never loved the album as a whole. Dont think ive played it all the way though in years, which i still do with the 70s albums, I've just never liked the first two tracks and it's hard to love an album when it doesn't grab you from the start. I find it just as variable as the other 80s albums tbh, I know many people rate it higher than I do, but for me it's just trying too hard to make a US radio friendly sound, which again, is just my opinion. Thinking about it the only other track i actively dislike is My Baby Does Me, so 7/10 i like, pity the first 2 are in the 3.
Some fabulous songs though, Breakthru is fun, though isn't it basically just n attempt to make Don't Stop Me Now part 2? (cat, pigeons)
I'm still all in for the proposed box set if it happens.
Also don't know why I dislike Party and Khashoggi so much, I usually love the heavier Queen sound.

Look at all of those styrofoam particles being blown all over the place.... If only the middle aged Brian had any idea on how many poor innocent badgers and foxes suffocated on those styrofoam particles as well as it all going into the waterways......
Jeez, after watching breakthrough and to a lessor extent... ACDC Long way to the top if you.... 2020 I wonder if you could get away with filming on a moving object without Health and Safety having a word to say.... All of those regulation sign offs having stunt doubles or getting a heights certificate and learning how to use a fall arrest harness, having to wear high vis as the rail is classed as a work zone....
Just imagine if there was a slight bump in the tracks... The last sight of John Deacon losing his footing as he falls into Rogers drum kit and sweeping them both off the back... Or a cow or something getting on to the tracks and the train had to employ the emergency breaks.... Everyone being crushed against the front steel bars by Rogers drum kit, Brian dropping his red special over the side.... I think that would have to be the one thing that would have broken Brian.... Not John loosing his life as he goes over board, not Freddie as he does his push up thing on the side rails and gets a bit of vertigo and falls over BUT.... Brian dropping his beloved Red special and seeing it slip under the wheels of the carriage turning into kindling....
Luckily the band doesn't have the same vertigo issues I feel that I would had on that moving platform....

Their worst album (and Freddie's only bad album, vocally) in my view, but I understand lots of people on here have an emotional attachment to it, which is fair enough. [/QUOTE]
for me it's nothing to do with emotional attachment. by the Miracle ('89), I'd been a Queen fan 15 years. For me it's the return to the Queen sound, Miracle and Innuendo sound like a band that can be bothered:
bothered with writing decent songs, playing well, working like a band again and actually taking the time to construct and arrange their songs with care and love.
everything from (half of The Game - through to AKOM) was Queen doing everything that wasn't Queen:
lazy song-writing, piss-poor production, paint-by-numbers song arrangements and a lack of love of their job. this is evidenced by Roger and John effectively becoming the "hit writers", Freddie and Brian taking a lesser role.
Less Freddie piano, less vocal arrangements, less Red Special = less Queen sound. this period completely abandoned the very soul of Queen. there may be more pop hits, but more is definitely not better.
if queen from 80-86 never existed (maybe compiling one LP from the best tracks) to bridge the 70s to the Miracle, the band would have a blemish-free catalog.
FWIW - my 80-86 LP would be:
One Vision
Play The Game
The Hero
Dragon Attack
It's A Hard Life
Save Me
Hammer To Fall
Princes Of The Universe
(and ...if they'd been finished)
It's A Beautiful Day
Let Me Live
