How was The Miracle recorded ?

Listening to the 24 bit high res version of The Miracle I've noticed a significant improvement in sound quality compared with 3 different CD masters that I have heard the album on.

Does anyone know what bit rate the album was recorded at ?

I've read somewhere that the album was only recorded on 16 bit digital tape.

If that's the case I wonder how I can hear much better sound quality on the 24 bit high res version ?

I've also noticed that the sound quality of the The Miracle is better than on Innuendo.

Innuendo is probably the worst Queen album in terms of sound quality.

"innuendo" indeed has a lack of real drums... but is it worse than jazz recording-wise ? ?

In my opinion the drums on Innuendo are some of the best sounding they recorded. Show Must Go On’s drums are so big and powerful. The snare sound on Slightly Mad is great too.

Least preferable drum sound IMO is Jazz.

various sources online that cannot be confirmed claim a kind of magic, the miracle and innuendo were all recorded in 44/16 - cd quality audio.

queen recording aren't audiophile-grade. they spent more time worrying about the music production than the sounds production. this is more people buy queen records and less buy Donald Fagen's The Nightfly. The latter is arguably a classic album but probably most famous for its recording process and heavily commented on within audiophile circles online.

worst sounding drums is definitely Jazz...it is almost St. Anger bad, but not quite. Lars really took Roger to town on that album. best sounding drums is hard to pinpoint... i like News of The World and The Game the most. nice dry sound on those two. drum sound on one vision was pretty good. while innuendo had a great drum sound, the production slightly eased it out of the mix. i'm not a fan of the innuendo eq levels. hoping for a raw mix of innuendo one day. to me, that album had the greatest individual sounding instruments on any of queen's albums - that being all 3 + freddie's voice. John's bass tracks on this album were phenomenal.

Pretty well everything done by Mack IMO was the worst that Rogers drums had sounded, dry boring and often recorded with the bottom head removed so rather one dimentional
Innuendo has some great drum sounds on it, The Show Must Go On for one, News of the World has some nice parts, but by far the best sound was Sheer Heart Attack and Opera, live full and resonant

I actually really like the Jazz sound, it's much deeper than you think, and rolls like the Fat Bottomed Girls will live on as fine examples of the range of his kit and recording quality

The Miracle isn't an album, it's a folder with files.

Depends which one you're talking about, eh?

The one where Jesus turns water in to wine was recorded and captured in HD on 3 hand-held camcorders and has been torrented as a multi-cam recording with absolutely seamless editing and incredible stereo sound for something shot in the open air and under those temperatures and a crosswind.

As for healing lepers, both The Daily Mail and The Star had sent reporters along to record the phenomenon but, sadly, just couldn't be in the right place at the right time and they were trumped by the National Enquirer who ran a 14-page expose on it, including a "Special Issue" featuring a homosexual leper who went on to forge a successful career fronting a rock band that had lost it's lead singer as a result of his promiscuity and, IRONICALLY, had both an album and single called "The Miracle" but continue to refuse to play it due to the, potentially, damaging connotations.

The only other miracle is Kylie Minogue's arse which, at the time of writing has, MIRACULOUSLY, not been captured and remains on the open market since circa 1986.

Just wondering: what's the source of this? I think the DTS tracks in GVH2 are 96 kHz / 24 bit, but other than those... Are you sure you aren't listening to someone's artificially enhanced mixes?

Also, the album was recorded on analog tapes as far as I know. "Too Much Love Will Kill You" almost made it to the tracklist, and when they included it in MIH they mentioned that it was the only fully analog sourced song. I might be a bit off regarding the tech used, but I do remember the analog bit.

Rather than rely on your memory or on "various unconfirmed online sources", just take a look at the SACD spectrum.
There is a steep cut at 22 kHz, not present on the analog sourced SACDs.

I listened to a SACD rip of the Album.

I believe SACD is the best way to hear the album in digital format.
