Has anyone bought a copy? Here's a link to the official press release: www.pressparty.com/pg/newsdesk/Queen/view/181268/

"John Deacon was and remains the most restrained member of Queen, allowing his bass to do the talking while the other, larger personalities took over the limelight. Indeed, since the premature departure of Queen singer Freddie Mercury in 1991, Deacon has been largely silent, choosing in recent years to live his life entirely out of the public eye. That doesn’t stop us saluting his huge contribution to our world, though, and here we take a close look at the great man’s catalogue, gear and techniques. I’m especially pleased that Queen’s two other members, Brian May and Roger Taylor, officially approve of this month’s cover feature, and believe me, this issue will be winging its way to Queen HQ the moment it comes out."

That's really nice to hear, as so little is said about their relationship nowadays.

Who cares if May & Taylor approve of this months front cover as they have had bad lapses in taste for the past ten years.
Deacon remains my second favourite Queen member because he kept his sense of dignity.

John is so underrated and never in the limelight whenever Queen is brought up everywhere but maybe here. But he never really wanted to be prominent, so it's kind like he wants it to be.

I'd love to find out more about the article, if it provides any interesting nugget about him.

I was looking for this mag all over town and couldn't find it anywhere.

It is pretty sinister if the approval of Roger and Brian needs to be sought for Bass Guitar magazine to do a feature on John Deacon? What the hell?

If he had a sense of "dignity" as you see it, he'd reject the royalty cheques from the band's latest tours.

He is still 1/3 of the business end of things, and he has given the green light to virtually everything they've done in the last 20 years.

I highly doubt their approval was "required".

Approval doesn't necessarily entail being part of the decision making process. It just means they're happy it came out, as not much is written about him anymore.

Real Wizard Deacon may have given the green light but at least he knows his conscience is clear and he never got involved physically on stage with the circus of Queen+.
He had the common sense to realise after Freddie passed away that Queen would never be the same even if they did continue.
He still deserves the royalties as he was a valuable member of Queen all those years and he worked damn hard for the money.

I really don't think it's a question of integrity, but more like he is not cut out to be a rock star his whole life. He's been living a quiet life for a while and I don't think that will ever change.

They're just happy another small enclave of people will get the forthcoming film rammed down their eyes. This time, people who play 5 string basses.

But why go to them anyway? Are the music press so terrified about saying something wrong, they might get sued? Is that the reason most of the early reviews so far have been mainly positive?

Have they become bullies?

And as for JD.. sitting back in his armchair watching the millions roll in while the other two fuck up the legacy, after all future generations will only know Queen with him and Freddie in it. Pretty fucking clever if you ask me. Respect to the man.

I see it as poor kids of today will look back at Queen in 10 years time and only remember Queen+ Adam Lambert, how fucking sad will that be eh?

Err, what? So for JD to have any dignity, he should forgo any royalty payments from songs he has songwriting credits on that they have chosen to perform? OOOOkay.
