I don't know who is more enigmatic: John Deacon or Mark Hollis of Talk Talk.

Katby : John Deacon hated Robbie Williams working with Queen so why would any one think he is ok with Lambert trolling the stage with Queen? John has suffered crippling depression for many years and Freddie's death the main cause.

@Mr Right
Are you his shrink?

Basically he's a silent partner, but still a partner.

let's not forget John has got a family with 6 kids. In the 90s he probably considered the family was a much better way to lead his "lucky" wealthy millionaire life rather then keep working on a project he felt was over. Nobody can judge his decision, after all.

Well, if Adam Lambert can sign WWRY, why not George?
Because he's dead.

He obviously isn't directly involved with Queen anymore

He obviously is. The cheques, presumably, are directly addressed to him. He's not performing anymore, but it doesn't mean he's not involved.

The thread was about John Deacon being on a magazine cover. gerryhappystarMrWrong has to make it about Q+AL.
Why not post on that subforum about your obsession with Adam, as you so often make that comment to others?

Sebastian, you've misunderstood me. When I say "directly involved", I mean that he doesn't speak to Brian and Roger, or attend creative meetings, etc. Yes, he clearly signs the necessary paperwork and happily takes his share of the money. But he doesn't debate their touring tracklist, or assist in the audio production of the movie soundtrack, or contribute his stereo pictures to Queen in 3D, etc.
As interesting as this discussion is, as goodco has said, I made this thread to let people know that John was being featured in Bass Guitar Magazine. It's quite amazing how the conversation has drifted.

Real Wizard Deacon may have given the green light but at least he knows his conscience is clear and he never got involved physically on stage with the circus of Queen+.
He had the common sense to realise after Freddie passed away that Queen would never be the same even if they did continue.
He still deserves the royalties as he was a valuable member of Queen all those years and he worked damn hard for the money.
He deserves his royalty cheques even though he has done nothing with them since 1997, but Brian and Roger who have kept the Queen name alive and current don't?
He didn't leave the band, he retired from the music business, and he didn't do that when ( according to you) Freddie died, he continued to work with the band under the Queen+ name for six years before he retired.
Bang on.

Deacon said he didn't like the Williams version of We Are The Champions.
Deacon has publicly said nothing about Lambert.
Therefore you are wrong to suggest Deacon disapproves. This is not a rational supporting argument.
Do I need to write it in crayon, or can you comprehend that?

I've always thought that the 2001 article with John slamming Robert was 'fake news'. Wouldn't be the first or the last time such a thing happened.

Deacon's wife is to blame for his departure.

I'll see if I can find it at lunch and post snaps here.
Obviously I'll go to WHSmiths in disguise, or discretely tuck the bass magazine between the pages of Razzle or Erotic Horses.

I could not get a visual, I repeat I could not get a visual.
