Who would have thought. I would have guessed the film would have gotten nominations for sound mixing and editing and maybe best actor. If that "Best Picture" nomination list is to be believed, then last year was a bad movie year, though.

Soon, this will all be over and we can consign it to the bad memories section......

Holy shit, the film's on a roll. If anyone said it would be Oscar-worthy a year ago, we would have pointed fingers and laughed maniacally. And here we are (born to be kings...).

I expect it to get something in the sound categories, but it will definitely not get best picture or actor. But maybe...

Bohemian Rhapsody was probably more difficult to make than some of the other nominated films because so many details had to be recreated, not improvised. I’m surprised it wasn’t nominated for makeup and hair! But I’m really glad that it got nominated for Best Film and Best Actor.

I believe "A Star Is Born" has no chance at best picture, because it uses a non-actor in a main role.

Ben Hardy's never-changing Rick Parfitt wig was probably enough for the film not to get nominated for hair & make-up.

Ha! It’s true that the “Roger hair” was never quite as good as the real thing.

But the “Freddie nose” was really an achievement!

Bonkers that it is nominated for best film, isn't it! And I loved it, yet still say this (AMBIVALENCE as there are aspects I hated, yet I found it so very poignant, moving and uplifting, I love it anyway.)

Acting and sound categories it deserves though I feel, especially this year.

However, if anyone had said the film being made about Freddie/Queen would receive even one Oscar nomination for anything, I reckon pretty much everyone would have taken that, whatever the film! No?

I wonder if Rami has a chance....?

I've only seen Green Book of the other acting nominees and can't see Viggo winning. I'd love Willem Dafoe to win though in a general sense. Not seen his film so no idea how he is in it, but he is always great in everything I have seen him in. But, yeah, Rami was great in my book and the best performance I've seen this year...

Willem already has an Oscar so I imagine you mean you’d like him to win again, in the general sense? (Platoon)

Clearly a very poor year for Hollywood in the shadow of the Weinstein allegations.

When it comes to oscar nominations I'm afraid they are no longer about quality. There are diversity boxes to be ticked.

I think Rami has a good chance and he did work very hard on the role, but Joe Mazzello's wigs are the real winners here.
