Say QPL got their act together and released a comprehensive Anthology with all you could ever want on it.How much would you be willing to pay ,plus how would it do sales wise ? Would Brian ,Roger and John be interested in putting in the time and effort to take on such a project? I know that lots of us on this site have given so much hard earned cash to QPL,with sales from Albums,Concert Tickets,Travelling to Concerts, the list is endless. They are all very wealthy, could they find it in their hearts to give something back to the fans.I am 56 and in poor health I worry that I will never see the release that I really want.

£150 would be acceptable.

See what Pink Floyd did with the Early Years Box. I'd pay double for a Queen set. I believe everything, if not, virtually everything, on that box set is previously unreleased. If Queen did something similar for 1971-1980. And then 1981-1991.
2 roughly 30 disc sets each... 600-1000$ USD per set - i'd pay it if 100% of the box was unreleased material and at least 70% was studio material. I'm sure not everyone would pay that much - which is why PInk Floyd released the set in subsequent separate box sets.

otherwise a 6 disc box set - 3 disc for era 1 and 3 for era 2 - I agree with stevelondon... 150 quid.

I don't think the problem is interest. They made the Freddie box almost 20 years ago. I'm sure they have a bit of an idea how it could do saleswise.
I think that they want to release a complete anthology at the end of the career. Not when they are selling out large venues all over again.
Sure some people will complain that Queen ended in 1991 when Freddie died but of course this is not true. As long as Brian and Roger keep on working under the Queen flag I don't see a large carreer spanning boxset with outtakes,

What would you pay Philip??

They've probably missed their window of time when older fans like me would buy an expensive box set. And younger fans would rather have downloads. But I doubt there will be an anthology release. It's far too much effort for them for too little financial and reputational reward. At the heart of their reasoning I think is that releasing demos or less-than-perfect recordings might damage their brand. At the moment any non-Queen fan can gift a Greatest Hits package to a friend or relative knowing the brand equates to a quality product. They don't want to damage that brand by releasing half finished demos, or even live recordings that haven't first been auto-tuned.

Philip Sorry you are not in great health, to be honest this Anthology has been promised for the past 23 years that i know of
but still has not been delivered.
Can not seeing Brian or Roger caring about such a project they have there heads up Adam Lambert's backside to be honest and frank
and do not give a toss about the real fans that got them famous over 45 years ago, we are the forgotten few and 28 years nearly since Fred departed
and a lot has changed in the Queen camp.
If an Anthology were to be released i think it will be after Queen splits up and have nothing to do.
I too will probably be dead by the time and (if) a box set ever gets released!
Queen productions are very very slow with getting everything out and even some things will never see the light of day.

In all honesty Philip, nothing.
I'd wait for it to be made available on a torrent site, download it and then pick out the bits and pieces that I want to keep.
Either that or buy the set, copy the discs and then return it as damaged for a full refund.
Besides, I'm not holding out for anything from QPL any longer - they lost my interest towards the end of the Q+PR project when it became clear that karaoke is all that's motivating MayLor as artists within the brand.
However, had the Anthology been released when originally touted by the OIQFC, I'd have spent virtually ANYTHING on the set.
Happier days with Queen......

I suppose if it was a real fantastic release I would pay £250/£300 .It's hard to take when I have followed Queen like others on this site with such loyalty ,they are always in my thoughts every day.Never really getting over the death of Freddie.I remember being about 13 years old and worrying about if any of the Queen band became ill ,or died or the band split up.I also remember when at school being taunted by other pupils that Freddie was gay and I would get upset because they had never heard their music,so what did they know anyway. This can't be what Freddie would have wanted for the die hard fans,we have been taken over by Adam Lambert fans and his antics. So now all we get is Queen's greatest hits played over and over again at concerts where people stand filming the bloody thing on their mobiles.I only say these things because I care and cling to the hope that Brian and Roger will one day forget adding to the millions of pounds they have and do something for me and you.

Great thread Philip with good thoughtful posts.
I remember once I had a dream about flicking through the FM boxset on the chair in the long gone house I first listened to GH when I was little and it was so evocative and rekindled such happy memories in my dream I cried because I was so happy. If there is an anthology I would pay anything to get even close to that memory of innocence and discovery. Holding a boxset and tap into the Queen I fell in love with, and hearing things I've never heard before.
How realistic that is I don't know. I bet they've got a few aces up their sleeves, but I really really think time is running out now for there to be much interest in this. Old fan spending power is at it's maximum (several generations of us now) but they need to be aware that the 1st generation are either popping their clogs or totally distanced from what is going on, and the same is happening to the 2nd and 3rd generation too. The new kidz don't really have the money or inclination to get involved in that kind of release. What's a CD grandpa?
I keep playing devils advocate and saying that we kind of had an Anthology hidden in the bonus EPs of the 2011 reissues. But that doesn't touch what we actually deserve. Perhaps the problem is not only the naysayers who will loudly complain about what is on it no matter what, but once they commit and release one - the 'potential' of an anthology release is diminished. Because quite frankly, that is the last thing we need from them. Once it's gone, we can move on.
