Either that or buy the set, copy the discs and then return it as damaged for a full refund.

Phillip Yeah you sound a very sincere Queen fan like myself and i have supported them from 9 years old to now 54 !
Queen today have forgotten what they were all about and i agree to your comments about Adam Lambert why should he be the hero
when Freddie built the band up and even designed everything about the band including crest and what direction they had to go in with his strong leadership.
I like your spirit and you have the correct attitude about a band that is on the rocks visually and have no fresh ideas what to do.
Queen now are all about greatest hits tours and it is tedious and a waste of time to the ardent fans like you and i.

sounds like he's done this before - looks like he will do it again!

Sorry to hear about your health Phil. I've been in the same boat. Been a Queen fan since 79 and have already had one battle with cancer 5 years ago which took a kidney and waiting for the next to hit. I'm almost 49 and I also feel I'll never see what they have in the vaults during my lifetime. I am not holding my breathe over an Anthology as I feel it's not going to happen for a long time, if at all.

And

Absolutely, but only with Queen material. Amazon are excellent in this regard in my experience:

Hammersmith Odeon '75 - so poorly mastered that it was rendered unlistenable.
Montreal '81 - faulty editing of the set list.
On Air - so poorly mastered that it was rendered unlistenable.

Rendered unlistenable is a bit of a stretch

dysan, re:

>Rendered unlistenable is a bit of a stretch

Not at all; the sound didn't represent anywhere NEAR what is on any reasonably decent quality bootleg release and freely shared. Too many people simply accept what they're given but complain like buggery with the stuff sitting on their shelves......

It's different for sure, but that was always going to happen to tart it up for release. So it is a bit of a stretch to say unlistenable. Because people listen to it.

I'm not nit picking btw or weaving your words, just saying.

Dysan The Rainbow CD is superb quality and probably the best Queen live Cd release up to now!

No it's unlistenable.

Dysan Why would you say its unlistenable? I think its superb and very clear sound for a live show.

QUEEN3, re:

>The Rainbow CD is superb quality

Don't think too many people had any problem with The Rainbow other than the odd bit of auto-tuning and the snare triggers.

The issue for Hammersmith was simply ambiencing the entire fucking thing to make it sound like the band were playing at Wembley Stadium as opposed to a small venue playing to 2.5k people.

Very sorry to hear about your health Philip and Makka and I hope you will get to hear your wish of an anthology & unreleased beauties in the near future.

I'd love anything still hidden away to be released. I agree that if super amazing, around £250/£300 would be absolute max (and if I could afford it at the time of course.) If enough material exists, to split it into releases for different eras could mean something cheaper and more sales (say £100/£150 for a box set but split it into 3 collections by time/era maybe. This is assuming mainly rarities and not reissue.)

dysan - I am a music therapist and work mainly in schools. Last summer I'd been working with a girl who'd had a serious injury in a car accident, writing music with her. At the end of the year I asked if she'd like me to put the music she'd made onto a CD for her to keep and she said "WHAT'S A CD?" !!! So there are 11-year-olds out there (I assume whose parents only listen to music digitally) who don't even know what a CD is!

I don't know what the market is, but surely it is unlikely to increase?

Peter Jackson is working through 55 hours of video and 140 hours of audio from the Let It Be sessions. So looks like a new film will be in the works followed by a 50th anniversary box set.

Not quite sure why I've posted in this thread but ah well.
