If anyone had told you a year ago that a person would win a BAFTA (& looking likely to be an Oscar) for playing Freddie Mercury, I dare you to say you'd have said no thanks....
I'm really happy for Rami. It isn't the best film ever, but it's made with the right spirit. And does Rami capture Freddie perfectly? Well, I think he does (as much as anyone could) when Queen are playing live which is the most important and at other times, while he & the film may not convey ALL Freddie was, I personally think they get at a poignant truth of something that he was. And I can't imagine anyone doing a better job than Rami did: he's great and it's well deserved say I. I think Rami could have done even more had the film given him more to work with which is a shame for him, but so what he's winning anyway and I haven't seen a better performance in the last year myself. Of course I've seen better films, but Bohemian Rhapsody is full of joy, love and respect for Freddie which is quite enough for me.
They've connected loads of new people with discovering Queen. Hearing Queen through the giant cinema speakers in a IMAX screen is as close as I'll ever get to seeing them live and they've made something so popular it's made loads of money and isn't only just popular - it's winning the biggest awards possible.
What's to be snobby about?! Because on a Queen forum, to me making such comments only comes across as snobbery and thinking you're better than the film as far as I see it at this point. If you hate it it's fine. But why not just keep quiet?
And in the end, I think probably the truest form of criticism is cold, hard cash. (Which not even actual critics have to part with before judging films.)

All the reasons given on this forum (not just this thread) about why it's a GOOD THING are exactly the reasons it's a BAD THING IMO. No snobbery involved. I'm glad people liked it, but much like those-who-shout-loudest about Brexit, I don't want to hear why I'm wrong about it.

The movie was, is, and will be a wasted opportunity ... and I don't care who agrees or disagrees with me, no matter how much prizes the movie still getting ...

Anything that gets Freddie back in the public eye is a good thing as at the moment going by all the magazines David Bowie seems to be getting too much limelight in my opinion, he was a brilliant artist but Freddie was always miles better.
Congrats to Rami for letting the public know Freddie is very much as important as he ever was.

I agree with spirastatic.
The only reason I went to the cinema to watch to movie was the sound which is the closest I can get to a real concert. I simply closed my eyes and imagined the real Freddie instead of Rami.
I didn´t expect more and I got all that I wanted.
And actually, Rami was quite good. He captured 70´s Freddie very well.Hovewer I wasn´t that convincing with the mustache. Definitely not cool enough :)
