Back again. Just remembering Brian's recent work with Adam (dare I say his name?) at the tail end of TYMD and FBG where the guitar solos h, allowing Brian have been extended allowing Brian to let rip, he is really enjoying himself and delivering some great licks.

Hi, something left of centre perhaps, bu I've always been intrigued by whatever Brian does to get the weird, distorted bell tones at about 8:30 in Brighton Rock

I think he does something similar in other shows on the Japan tour. I also like the way he gets Sakura into the solo as well
He might be picking close to the bridge to get that 'plink' sound.
He was *probably* picking at a distance equivalent to exactly 12 or 24 frets up from each note he was fingering, making a number of the higher harmonics sound very clearly.

If you have a guitar available, either electric or acoustic, you can try the effect for yourself. If electric, a *light* overdrive or tube-style distortion will highlight the effect.

Choose a string, place your finger at the third fret, then pick the string as you normally would, and let ring. Silence the string, keep your finger at the third fret, and now pick right above the 15th fret, and let ring. The effect should be very evident, but moving your pick up or down the string a tiny bit can change the sound considerably, so toy around a bit to find the sweet spot.

I'd forgotten about the ANOTHER WORLD TOUR
.... back in the Napster days i downloaded a live show which featured a great solo spot that extended into FBG riffs and then into the KURGAN'S THEME "bagpipe" solo. I think he was much freer with his playing on those tours. Must've been great to attend.
