'You take my breath away' is such a beautiful romantic song, wonderfully composed and sung by Freddie Mercury

I sort of like ''39'. I know, it's because it's my favourite Queen song, but I find it beautiful and romantic in the sense that he sees his wife's eyes through his daughter... and then it stops being romantic and might become a little creepy...
John hated Hot Space. Frederick's favourite singer was not Paul Rodgers. Roger didn't compose 'Innuendo.' 'Bohemian Rhapsody' hasn't got 180 vocal overdubs.

top 5

1. Las Parablas
2. Who Wants To Live Forever
3. One Year Of Love (the saxophone solo gives it a case for number 1... but lyric-wise falls behind WWTLF)
4. Save Me
5. Bijou

honorable mention

You're My Best Friend - melody is too poppy
Teo Torriate - the chorus/choir kills the mood
Love Of My Life - no longer in love
You Take My Breath Away - infatuation vs. stalkish behavior!
Nevermore - immediate reminder of Edgar Allen Poe
I Was Born To Love You - basically one-sided + too upbeat

Hi all, I'm overwhelmed at the quick response! Thank you! I'm gonna go have a listen to these, especially the ones I haven't actually heard before. I want to re-listen to everything I've listened to before (I think some of you know that I'm an "old fan" but only because I saw them in concert back in 1982, but I didn't follow them closely after that, much to my current sorrow, and because I was busy with RL and all, I only peripherally "heard" them...and noted Freddie's passing with sadness and some amount of resignation).

So I'm re-acquainting myself with them now. I didn't actually like the movie, btw, but I understand the value-adding there... it not only brought me back, but it's brought a whole new generation (or few!) to the fold. That's a win-win IMO.

Btw, amongst the tracks you all listed, YTMBA was always my favorite with StL a close second. But many of the others I had let fall by the wayside, so I'm going make a "mixed tape" of those ;) ;)

The other reason I wanted to do this is because my mom -- yes, all of 80 years -- watched the movie with me. She had NO prior knowledge of Freddie or Queen. And now she wants to listen to the "slow songs" because she loves when he sings slow :)

So I'm making her a mixed tape slightly different from mine.

Oh, the other thing I wanted to mention while looking these over -- it struck me that no one listed LOML. Interesting! Is it because you all don't think it's a "romantic song" or is it not as popular/liked as the others in this group?

Again, many thanks! If you think of more, let me know please?
