Chevy...that will be an absolutely wonderful day because you get to turn 50....a gift of time denied to so many others including our beloved Freddie!

Rainbow, you are correct now that makes me feel bad .He was only 45 that is too young my uncle was 37 I think when he passed .That's such a beautiful age Freddie was so beautiful at that age.He had the most gorgeous facial jawline I have ever seen on a man.I know alot of other fellas thought that too.I look at pics of Brian and Roger they are aging well but I forget that Freddie would be right up there with them. It's like he was preserved young in our minds that's sad stuff that's all i want to say.

I love how Freddie was so enthusiastic about birthdays, including his own. In one of his "Ask Phoebe" columns, Peter Freestone said Freddie even celebrated the birthdays of his cats (actually their arrival day) with a party and a new toy.
So when 5-0 comes, celebrate with gusto and put on some Queen music!

Here's a fun cake topper: You can get it with your own name...

Jo T-thanks for the welcome!

Rainbow -great point on the gift of turning 50! Especially in light of the most recent shooting yesterday! Such a tragedy! My daughter is in from Orlando this week and we had just been discussing the Pulse club shooting (I moved her down there just after that tragedy to start her first nursing job).
She was updating me on all the events that go on in Orlando still for the survivors and how events like that have such a long lasting effect. So sad! I'll get off my soap box now.....

BTW...LOVING the cake topper - I share a b-day month with FM, why not the cake?

For anyone who's interested, came across this link of FM starring in his own comic book series:

https://www.behance.net/gallery/78662637/Planet-Mercury-Comics-The-Series

Even with the high super hero content, no covers of FM with Thor! Maybe I should send the artist pics of the NY daughters and see if he can work one up lol!

Amidds, that is SO eerie you brought up yesterday's mass shooting @ the Gilroy Garlic Festival in Gilroy, CA on a QueenZone thread. If it wasn't for the Queen + Adam Lambert: The Rhapsody Tour, one of my friends and I likely would've been in attendance @ the Gilroy Garlic Fest over the past Sun., the 28th, like we had planned last year! My heart stopped for a sec when I learned about the location of the shooting on the news. I felt like my friend and I had dodged a bullet - absolutely no pun intended. I feel for all those victims and their families. Let me explain. We had plans to rent the same Airbnb cottage from last year in Pacific Grove, CA for the city's annual, weeklong Feast of Lanterns that culminated in fireworks on the city's Lovers Point Beach on Sat., the 26th. I wanted to take part in the festivities during the week and see the fireworks on the beach on the last night. My friend, the foodie who loves to cook, wanted to go to the annual, 3-day Gilroy Garlic Fest over the same weekend, so we would've gone on Sun., the 27th, the day of the shooting, if I hadn't chosen to stay home instead. Queen played one night in my metropolis last Sat., the 26th. I had to cancel our CA plans to be able to see Queen in concert in my home state.

Thanks for the link to Planet Mercury Comics. I'm an aunt to a teen nephew I used to take when he was younger to see all his beloved superhero movies like Superman, Batman, Spider-Man, Captain America, the Avengers, etc. I have an appreciation for superhero comics and movies. I like the drawings for Planet Mercury Comics.

Amidds, thanks for the link to the Planet Mercury Comics. I had never seen nor heard of the series. I often wish Freddie could have known the scope of his legend. I don't think that even he could have imagined.

Jo T. you seem to do some amazing traveling! You are so fortunate that your plans changed because of the Queen concert. Yet another senseless tragedy, and my heart goes out to the people in Gilroy.

I am so sorry as I didn't know there has been a shooting incident in the US, so sad that these events keep happening.

Rainbow I am glad you enjoyed Peter's little trip down memory lane. It must have brought back a lot of memories for him, some sad , some happy I imagine. I note that he did decline to have his photo taken in front of GL but I assume that its to painful.

AMidds I have seen those comics recently, they are really good.

Lsgp03,Hello glad to see ya drop in are you enjoying your summer any good reads or are you like me waiting for this one.[/QUOTE]

Hey there Chevyman, been working a lot this summer and simply fried. I do come here to make sure everyone ok, and any updates from Thor and Lee, but that’s about it. I am struggling with seeing Queen + AL when they come to town, I’m positive I’ll find a ticket on StubHub, but Freddie’s voice is the only voice for me with Queen. I grew up with Queen-Freddie, and cannot find a connection with AL, even though they are Queen songs with 2 original band members.
I think most would consider me insane, but can’t help how I feel. Silly on my part. I just need to go with the flow

Lsgo03, I agree with you it is hard seeing someone besides Freddie standing there but I think Brian and Roger would go nuts if they couldn't perform anymore it's been part of their life for a longetime.Get you some tickets and go support Brian and Roger Adam does seem like a nice guy and he gives it his all.

JoT -maybe it was fate that kept you away from the festival - it is very eerie to think you might have been a part of another senseless shooting that resulted in the untimely deaths of 3 young people. Glad you are safe.

Amidds - thanks for the link - I have never seen those before. It is always nice to see something new.

LP- I am going to see Queen tomorrow night in Pittsburgh - I hear it's a great show. I will support Roger and Brian knowing they will never be able to replace Freddie. I am going with an open mind enjoying the beautiful music Freddie created. He wanted his music to live forever and Brian and Roger are doing just that. Still rocking in their 70's. More power to them.

Chevy - age is just a number - enjoy every day and live in the moment:) It's not so bad to grow older:)

Lsgp03, I understand your feelings on Q+AL. I was resistant to Adam until I began to watch interviews where he expressed great respect for Freddie, and Queen in general. He was like a kid who knew the gift he'd been given and was thrilled. Freddie will always be number 1 for me. But I missed the opportunity to see Freddie and the band live when they toured the US back in the day and I'm still kicking myself. I have no idea what I was doing during that time but I'm pretty sure I was occupied with being a mom. Doesn't matter, I went to other concerts, but not Queen. So, to have the opportunity now to see Brian and Roger in what every review so far says is a spectacular show, well, I'm not going to miss it. I'll see them in two weeks and I can hardly wait. I know they make Freddie a part of every show and I suspect I'll shed some tears of both joy and sorrow. I would not have missed this for anything. I didn't want to regret anything at a future date when they are no longer touring, so I'm putting on my Freddie tee and I'm going to soak up every minute. I think Freddie would be thrilled to know that the music lives on and gains new fans at a fantastic rate. If you do chose to go to the concert, celebrate the band and Freddie's legacy with abandon!!
