Hi all and welcome newbies
Ammidds I'm so glad you managed to.find as it began in your library , it's good read. Also I know you mentioned garden !lodge , thought I'd confirm that during phoebes recent tour of kensingtony he said that Mary no longer lives in garden lodge . I imagine it's too big for one person and too full of memories.
I would say that I doubt GL would be left to go to pot so wouldn't worry .
I'm happy to read all the buzz of queen & al, I really hope they visit europe
The documentary you refer to is a,channel5 made for tv documentary. I'm sceptical of any UK channel 5 doc about queen after the last one which Brian and Freddie's fami!y tried toban. It was ok and nice to see rose rose for the first time but when Brian and co, phoebe etc aren't involved its means it's not authorised and not all unnecessarily true. I note that David wigg was wheeled out again as was Peter streaker .
Thor glad to read the book is coming along nicely , all very exciting .
Excuse typing errors as I'm on a kindle which is rubbish lol
Doughnut - thanks so much for the mention of GL and Mary. I had read somewhere that she no longer lived there but other accounts mentioned she did so it's nice for the clarification. I wonder it that's in any way tied to the rumors about her only being able to live there so long before
it's put to another use? Mentions of museum or preservation come to mind but, again, not good sources and my memory is very fuzzy on that account. You also mention Phoebe doing a recent tour - is he still doing that? I swear that man is soooo busy!
I just watched the 2019 clip of Freddie..
WOW, amazing! Thank you guys so much for sharing it.
However...hmmm....what happened in 1981, 1982, and 1983? which was left out...yet,again!
Our book is very happily going to look into those years.
Lee and I can't wait to share it with all of you. Still there is more work to be done...We had no idea when we started but all the work before and then, after, we found the publisher, is definitely a labor of love for the man who gave us so much love!
Dear Freddie, your New York days will soon show you off during some of your best of times when you first felt the Freedom to be yourself. And boy, did you ever, Break Free!
We love you Freddie!
Thor and Lee
Doughnut- thank you for the welcome. Really appreciate reading and bring a part of the amazing conversation, knowledge, and heart here, a perfect lead in to:
Thor’s “Dear Freddie” message..wow-all heart.
I also enjoyed the documentary and did notice that abrupt skip. No mention of David Minns either. So glad this book will be in the world and shine a bright light.
Lots of things were left out in that documentary, but over all, I felt they did a good job. I did end up sharing it with one friend who tries but doesn't really succeed in understanding my obsession with Freddie. I thought it was a nice clear history. It would be impossible to cover everything in one hour, so I'll take it. Though I had read Rosemary's book, that's the first I've seen her interviewed. I'm not a huge fan of Peter Straker, but he and Freddie were so close that it's fair to include him. I'm going to be swimming against the flow here yet again because I like David Wigg. I know there were some issues, but he was one of the few journalists Freddie trusted so I believe he should be included. It's a great thing that there is so much material out there that allows all of us to learn as much as we can. It's only natural that we take what we find and form our own conclusions. Chevy, the video wasn't from me, I just repeated the link and turned it live to make it easier.
Rainbow, I'm so happy you enjoyed your concert! I go one week from today.
Shoot, for some reason I thought Breakthru was always in Cleveland, though why they would want to do that I don't know. Guess I should have gone when it was in reach.
Thor, you are teaching me about book publishing. An artist friend and I were once in discussion about writing a childrens' book and I know now I would not have had the time or patience. I'm glad that you do!
Lots of things were left out in that documentary, but over all, I felt they did a good job.
Katydyd5- I completely agree. It is true when you know some of the other pieces your brain fills them in anyway. Was just interesting as it started to feel like a chronology, I guess we always just want more. Haha. :-)) it’s always enjoyable to see anything related.
Thor, I noticed 81, 82, 83, were missing they just probably made a innocent mistake yeah right.I was gonna say something after I watched it but didn't want to stir up trouble.I tend to get myself in a bit of trouble with what I say. But I'm letting you now I did notice and the others did as well I'm sure. Its all good though we know the truth
I personally dont care for David wigg the little dude creeps me out.He was dishonest and said he was invited into the bedroom for some activities and I dont believe that for one minute I'm sorry.I have to say this.I wouldn't want David Wigg involved in my bedroom period. He might be the type looking through a peep hole but that's about it.He is the one reporter that Freddie got so upset with because of all the stuff about Mary he was saying.I dont blame him.Thats all I care to say about that one .They could've left him out and I would've been okay with it.
Hey, I didn't mean to fire anyone up about David Wigg. I am interested in your comments though Chevy. I don't know if he was dishonest about being invited into the bedroom. I've always pictured that as a bunch of people frolicking around with nothing serious intended. More of a joke than anything. I wasn't there, I don't know. I also didn't realize Freddie got upset with Wigg because of things he said about Mary. Can you share your source on that Chevy? I've only heard Freddie being very open about both Jim and Mary with David. I thought the small rift was over an interview that the paper pieced together differently than Wigg had written it and the newspaper version upset Freddie. Again, I'd appreciate any sources you have on that. I just did some Googling and couldn't find anything. I've got so much info from so many sources crammed in my head that I can't remember where I first read that they had had an issue.
I sent the link to the video, I just wanted some more and new Freddie. I liked seeing some of the gang brought to 2019. Yes, they left out the NYC years but they did speak about “the NY daughters “ I believe.......but hey that’s a good thing because it means no one has yet stolen,,,,,,,no pun intended here....THORS THUNDER! It makes the book more sellable......the less the world talks about NYC....and L.A. ......the more Thor and Lees book will explode sell......because it’s different.
Yeah, I thought it was weird they left Jim out and phoebe out, but this was television documentary quality, and and appears the BBC did the construction and editing.........more about the band itself.....the way Brian and Roger like it.
Lsgp, I felt like the documentary was meant to focus on Freddie, but equally on the history of the band itself. Many of the commentators were music industry people that I wasn't familiar with, while a few were friends of Freddie's. I actually had to Google Cleo Rocos because I had no idea who she was. It's rare that we get anything new now, so I treasure anything I haven't seen. I felt like the NYC years were left out because that was just Freddie, not the band and the documentary was meant to focus on why Queen was Queen.
Lsgp,Thanks for sending the video I really enjoyed it I was disappointed too Jim was left out.We all know that Jim was Freddie's boyfriend though but alot of new people may not that's kinda the point. Its amazing they captured the two females and left all the fine young men out but that's ok they can handle how they want I guess thank you for sending it.
Katydyd, I have to step in on that one they have damn well always left them out which in my opinion is bullshit.I feel like they want this fairytale story of a rockstars life and that will never happen none of those band members lived a pg lifestyle. They never leave Mary Austin out of any of their fake story lines because they feel like it is morally acceptable.Thats why half of the fans are at each others throats on social media because they have turned this poor man's life and legacy into a circus. He wasnt bisexual never in my opinion in love with any woman romantically including Mary. Its just not possible he was absolutely gay.Thats the reason they leave these sources outof all the documentaries .It validates the proof that he was gay. They will continue to do this which is really sad and pathetic on their part.I would love to hear your opinion on this one.

I read Cleo would go to Freddie’s GL and hang out with him and Straker watching the Golden Girls and pretend they were each one of the girls. I read Cleo, Freddie and actress Stephanie Beacham hung out for awhile.......if you watched the mini series dramas of the 80’s - Stephanie was in it. Also, sometimes I think Queen is involved in these documentaries, because they are touring the world and they want “squeaky clean” has anyone noticed that? If they weren’t on tour I’m not it would matter so much.
Since Queen produced BoRap movie, that was squeaky clean too.
Maybe its just me, but as long as the Queen machine is touring, a lot gets left out.
I tell you who I want a current documentary from: Reinhold Mack and Rudi Dolezal

Thor,
Good to hear from you. Be glad the NYC years get left out. That way there is no over-saturation. The book will sell with an entirely new theme people haven’t seen over and over and over on YouTube. It works to your benefit.
