Rainbow—OK so they are some kind of English biscuit which makes sense. I’ve never made those. My pointers could be all wrong! Yikes! Maybe your proportions were off? English flour has less gluten than ours. Maybe try pastry flour instead of all purpose?
I’m now tempted to get this book and try making these! Does anyone know where I can buy this book now? I know I could look myself, but perhaps someone here knows of the top of their head. I vaguely remember there was some story about the wrong place to buy this book so that’s why I’m asking.
Notice in the baking show if someone makes some inedible disaster they’ve usually made one big mistake. A lot of the stuff they make on the show doesn’t have a lot of margin for error. These biscuits seem more basic. So now I’m kind of intrigued and want to try them. My Mom was English and baked some stuff, but not biscuits like these.

I loved the book for all the little snippets about Freddie's food likes and dislikes as well as the descriptions of the meals Peter served for Freddie's guests. I'm glad I bought it even though I am not a cook. (Just ask my husband...he does all the cooking) I do make pretty decent chocolate chip cookies though. It's important to have one kitchen skill...that is mine!
For the "cheesy pastries" I used all purpose flour instead of wheat flour like the recipe called for...that probably did not help.

Thanks for linking Phoebe's post, Amidds. I think this is the first time I've ever seen Phoebe speak out about negativity on social media. There's been some terrible talk going around on Instagram for months. I can't believe some of the bashing and lies I've heard. It's ridiculous what damage people can do on the internet. The spread of false information has always been a big concern of mine. It breaks my heart that Phoebe had to see that, but I'm glad he decided to say something (in his kind Phoebe manner, of course). His constant positivity and love of his friends is strengthening. He is a real treasure.
And doughnut - interesting indeed! yes, Girth and Mirth clubs were created by a gay subculture of big men and those with a preference for them. They led to a broader chubby culture that eventually intersected with bear groups. Knowing Freddie's proclivaties and hearing that New York was one of the popular locations made me curious!
All this pastry talk is inspiring me - I've always wanted to give some of Phoebe's recipies a try, sounds like fun!

Galileo, the cookbook is almost as much fun for the stories as for the recipes. I was reluctant to try any because of the need to convert to standard measurements but Google came through for me. Not sure what I'll try next because Freddie's tastes were different from mine but I'll give something a go.
Edit: I checked out Rainbow's link for the book and it looks like there is only one copy left. I don't understand that. You used to be able to buy it on MPT and now it appears to be basically unavailable.

Re Phoebe....everyone has their breaking point and I’m kinda surprised it’s taken Phoebe so long to say something as there is a LOT of nasty stuff out there. In my research, I was happy to come across this post because of the love and respect shown to FM (mostly). I am a firm believer in people being entitled to their own opinions but I don’t believe in making that an excuse to spread hate and vitriol. I’m sure Phoebe understands there are far more people that love and respect his friend but that may be hard to remember at times.....

Amidds,I believe alot of people get infections from surgeries I got meningitis after I had gbs.I dont think Thor did anything wrong it just happened and hopefully they can get it under control I'm keeping positive thoughts on that for sure.Phoebe is so upset these people have attacked so many that Freddie held dear to his heart they are spreading hurtful lies about his best friends and Phoebe spent time with these guys and knows it's not true.I can understand his frustration as us fans probably have been guilty at some point of saying something we shouldn't. I think it's just reached a point he is gonna do something about it.

It has already shipped, Now there is still one available. I’m betting seller has a bunch and is just making it look as if he only has one left.
I don’t know what it cost with shipping when MPT was selling it. I may have paid a few dollars more. But I decided to go ahead and not wait given the price some Queen and Freddie books are going for these days.

Thanks for your reply about Phoebe. As You could probably tell from my reply, I felt really sad for him reading it. My post was getting long, so I hadn’t included this. I heard that interview, sorry going to be vague here it’s been a little bit and I don’t have details hand but will look for them, want to say it was about 3 years ago but could be way off. It was a long interview, they talked about many things, including technical elements of Freddie's voice and capabilities. The online discussion groups came up and I remember him saying that he really tried not to spend his time or energies to those. I remember him saying he injected some facts in to the “conversation” and it was questioned (crazy), etc.
I think that’s what got me even more, he is such a positive person who, as you said, was able to ‘let it be’ for so long.... and it hit a head. I don’t even want to know what was said, but imagine it had to be pretty bad and cruel. I agree l, it is good he said something. That one really got to me... am sure it came they...I love all of the voices of calm and reason here.
By the way all, in that interview I just posted, he reveals a few things they are working on... one was a book they are aiming to release this winter. “I Want it All”
