Thor so good to hear from you and I am glad you are now doing ok. Thinking about you :)

Amidds I am feeling Phoebe is in part talking about a very toxic person who has appeared on here called FreddieDearie and who is also on IG. She is dreadful and is making some very awful claims about Jim Hutton . I won't go into it as its horrible. She isn't that nice about Peter too but is worse towards Jim.

Perk...Rogers words on Freddie's birthday said it all for me and affected me the most. I totally understand why you felt upset.

I will be buying 'never boring' but not the whole package, just the single CD'S. Freddie's songs have have been remastered by new people so I am very keen to hear them . I think it is nice to add it to the collection whilst I have the chance and it isn't too expensive.

Deedree,
So sorry to hear about your arm. I’m thinking about you!

Hi Jo T. !
You know how to do it!!how cool that you got the CD!!!! That sounds so fun, listening/singing to it in your car! Ya, you will have them memorized and will be singing along during the show:) not TMI. A perfect amount of info. (Haaahaaa) I didn’t know that about Captain Bass' daughter. Wow. That’s incredible.

———-Are you the one who had pre-ordered the "Queen + Bejart Ballet for Life," too? I received my DVD last week but have been too busy to watch it. How do you like it? I'm glad to learn the proceeds go to the The Mercury Phoenix Trust.

I am so glad you mentioned this! Thank you!! I did order and have not received it yet. I have an email that says delivered - maybe it means shipped. Don’t see tracking. Am reaching out to check on it. I feel so good that it’s going to MPT too! Double positive!

I will check in when I get it and watch it. I’m really looking forward to it. The preview online looked so good.

@Katydyd—I know it’s been over a week now, but I wanted to comment on your biscuit disaster, if I may call it that. When baking turns out that poorly something important technically has gone wrong. It’s not a minor problem such as having the oven a bit too hot and having them get too brown.

I don’t have the book and don’t know what type of biscuits these are. My guess is they are something like Southern biscuits, but with cheese in them. If so my guess would be you let the butter melt. The butter has to stay solid and melt in the oven. If you are working butter with flour on a hot day, it can easily get too hot. Some people put the butter in the freezer for a bit before mixing. You want little tiny bits of solid butter mixed in with the flour. If you end up with flour mixed into melted butter you will get a completely different result.

Anyway, you probably did one really important thing wrong, as opposed to ten small things wrong. I don’t actually bake a lot but I have made biscuits (Southern style ones) a few times, so I know how they are made. There are youtube videos on mixing this type of biscuit.

If they are a different type of biscuit maybe someone can tell me what and I will see if I can think of any ideas. I watch the British baking show and have seen people mess up with butter quite a bit. So at least you didn’t make sea urchins for national TV!

Deedree, nice to see you here, but sorry to hear about your arm. I hope the pain is less every day.

Doughnut, I didn't know you could buy the Never Boring CD's separately. I'd be interested to hear what you think when you have them.

Galileo, it was Rainbow who had the trouble with the biscuits. I tried them and was more successful, though they were a little salty for my taste. Easily fixed the next time. I PMed Rainbow the standard equivalents I used but I never heard if she tried the biscuits again. It was Phoebe's recipe for the cheese biscuits that Jer used to make for Freddie.

Quick message friends,

It turns out that my right knee did get infected somehow. I go back to surgery tomorrow.
Back to square one! Oh no, not again. Perhaps, as people warned me, I WAS putting
too much strain on it and too fast. Slow and steady from here on out...I am no spring
chicken anymore.

OK Katydyd, sorry for getting the two of you confused! There are so many pages of posts I didn’t go back to confirm I had the right person! I know the origin of the recipe, I just don’t know what type of biscuits they are!

@Rainbow—please read my post above that’s addressed to Katydyd! I meant it for you! Sorry.

Amidds! Thank you for posting that there was a new Ask Phoebe. That’s exciting. I kept looking periodically. It’s really sad to hear Peter get to the point of saying that he hopes the negative banter (my paraphrase) doesn’t become Freddie’s Legacy. Peter seems like such a good person and always so positive. I love Peter’s description of the birthday celebration and how positive it was. That has been my experience on this thread and I do hope he feels the that overall positivity is stronger than the other and knows that there are so many of us who are living happier because of Queen and Freddie and people like Peter and the authors of the book we are all awaiting, that continue to keep us connected!

No problem Galileo. They aren't a traditional biscuit like you are picturing. More of a cracker with a biscuit-like consistency. Little flat cheesy crackers.

Thor, I'm sorry to hear that you have an infection in the knee. By surgery do you mean they are going to clean out the infection? Sorry if that is too graphic for some. Good luck with it, and take your time with recovery. Not a race, right???

Oh gosh! I’m so sorry to hear that Thor!! Add to grocery list: ice cream or other favorite treats for your recoup. Take good care of yourself! Hope that infection gets knocked out very soon.

Thor - keep hanging in there. Somehow I doubt the infection had anything to do with putting too much strain on your knee. Why would overexertion of the knee cause infection?

Thor—Yikes, I was hoping all would be OK. I hope it goes well.

Hi Galileo....I am the one with the unfortunate pastry baking disaster! Katydyd said hers turned out fine, except a bit salty. Thanks for the pointers. It's reassuring to consider that I might have only made one large mistake instead of multiple small ones! I will try the recipe again some time in the future. In Peter's Freestone's Freddie cookbook, the pastries are rolled out and cut into little squares that are flat on top after they are baked. They don't really look like biscuits. By the way, "The Great British Baking Show" is one of my favorite television shows...I have been watching it for years, not that it shows! LOL

Deedree...Very sorry to hear about your accident! Wishing you a speedy recovery. Just curious...what kind of Freddie birthday celebration were you attending? I enjoy hearing how folks celebrated Freddie's birthday.

Amidds....Yes,I read Peter's latest "Ask Phoebe" blog. Was glad to see him post again as I have always enjoyed his column. When I first discovered it a few years ago, I must have read half of the blogs in one sitting. Am glad he is taking a stand on the negativity as well.

FreddieDarling...You have a lot of patience sewing such tiny outfits. Great job. Have you ever seen that interview with Freddie's mom and sister on the talk show when they showed some of Freddie's drawings and a couple of the women's jackets he designed while in college. I assume he used a sewing machine and also sewed by hand. I'm having fun with the image in my mind of Freddie sitting at a sewing machine! I wish there was a picture of that! Kash said Freddie gave the jackets to her...I wonder if she ever wears them?

Welcome newyorkdarling.

Gee....by the time I submitted my last post, a whole other conversation with multiple posts from several others had taken place. That's what happens when you type slowly.

Thor...I hope your nursing background works in your favor during the recuperation process. I'm sure this setback is frustrating...but glad it's being taken care of. I second what JB050 said about indulging in some treats. Maybe Lee will bring you a pineapple upside down cake! :)
