Nice video on Freddie and David Minns. I read David’s book, but this video with excerpts and photos is the cliff notes on the book basically.

If anyone is seeing come from away and does not want details ahead-please skip this post. :)

Jo T

(also like Zoe Gertz's portrayal of Captain Bass in the Melbourne, Australia production of "CFA" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tNhCrzMozfw). Zoe Gertz could pass for a young Captain Bass. Her facial features bear a resemblance.)

Thank you so much for sharing this. Wow. Extraordinary. She is so good. You have inspired me to watch more online. I was in dress circle on side so didn’t get to really see close-up on faces. Nice to see it both ways. What really strikes me is how when you watch the performances you really see “real people”. And their stories/storytelling. Like the discussion here about how we all remember where we were, they do a song that really portrays that.

Thor, I'm glad to hear you're "slowly recovering" from your setback. I can't remember, and I'm too lazy to review previous posts. Was it your R knee or your L knee that had the most recent replacement? Why do I have the feeling it's your R knee, the DRIVING knee? You appear to be one of those hard-headed men who love to drive AND insist on driving ALL the time, no matter what. Give yourself AMPLE time to drive to PS to meet Lee. It's not a race. Take FREQUENT breaks to stretch out the leg and pack some ice to the knee. I recommend you carry a cooler in your vehicle.

@JB, I got the soundtrack for "Come From Away" last Thurs. and have been playing it on a continuous loop in my vehicle's CD player. I may have all the lyrics memorized BEFORE I see the musical! LOL The soundtrack is awesome. I don't sing in the shower (Is that TMI?). I prefer it to be absolutely quiet, but I do belt out tunes when I'm driving alone to the radio or to a CD. I've been belting out "Me and the Sky." I pretend I'm Jenn or Zoe. "American Airlines had the prettiest planes . . . " Are you aware that the real-life, retired Captain Bass' daughter followed her mother's footsteps and is a professional airline pilot, too? BTW, I forgot to ask earlier. Are you the one who had pre-ordered the "Queen + Bejart Ballet for Life," too? I received my DVD last week but have been too busy to watch it. How do you like it? I'm glad to learn the proceeds go to the The Mercury Phoenix Trust.

@Katydyd, have a great time @ "Come From Away" later in the month! I can't wait to hear your feedback.

Sorry to hear about your knee, Thor! I hope it improves speedily! A friend and I just recently made a Queenzone account and are thrilled to hear that you and Lee are releasing a book about your time with Freddie. I think we are in dire need of accounts of Freddie's genuine, kind-hearted and free spirit, especially after the movie's portrayal really missed the mark. You and Lee have already been so helpful by sharing your memories in this forum, and Queen fans can't thank you enough!

I'm very interested to get a sense of what Freddie was like when he got to fully express himself with his friends in the American gay community. It's great that he was able to have those experiences with you, to drop the fame and just have fun being a regular guy for a while. It's a period in his lifetime that doesn't get much positive attention in documentaries and biographies - (and yikes, especially not in Bohemian Rhapsody!) It sounds like such an important time for him and his identity. I've heard a few stories here and there, but it would be great to understand him as he became more comfortable with his sexuality and began to explore the gay community. Side note: I've heard on many accounts that Freddie was a chubby chaser, do you happen to know if he was ever aware of the Girth and Mirth clubs that arose in New York in the late 70s/early 80s? Now THAT would be something! Lol! I'm looking forward to learning more about Freddie's New York experience in your book, I applaud you and Lee for spreading authenticity. I think this positive and truthful record is not only crucial for Freddie's reputation, but also meaningful for modern society to recognize Freddie's life as a gay man. I wish you nothing but success on publishing your book. You rock!!

Hi all and thanks for the updates. My best wishes for the knee recovery Thor. In a way I can relate as I just broke my arm after leaving a Freddie birthday celebration last week!! And I wasn't even drunk!!!

Unfortunately its a bad break and I am in a LOT of pain! Well I managed to reach 56 without a broken bone I guess!!

Signing off to take more drugs lol

FreddieDarling, awesome job! Hand stitching everywhere I would guess? Wow, so impressed!

Deedree, so sorry to hear that! Hope all goes well and you heal quickly! What a way to end a celebration :(

Has anyone noticed that there is a new post on Ask Phoebe? In his usual sweet way, he had some things to say about the negativity that appears about Freddie on the internet. Can't help but wonder if he is referring to some of the stuff that appears on this forum though luckily no one that seems to be showing up on here lately :)

Amidds, I did notice He was pretty upset at all these Instagram and social media posts.People are saying negative things about things they know nothing about is what I think he is angry about. He said they are saying things about people that have passed that cant defend themselves that would be upsetting especially to someone's family that sees it.He says people that didnt even know Freddie claim to have been his friend and his memory has failed him he was so busy he doesnt recall meeting them.He meant they were just fans not personal friends at all .He sounds very disappointed I guess.
