Roger on Freddie

Adam can credibly sing any genre of music without sounding really weird. A lot of rock singers can't do a really sweet ballad or a kitschy song like KQ. Opera singers to me always sound odd outside of opera music. Country singers often can't carry off other styles. Adam can pretty much sing anything pretty well. Ballads, the kitschy songs and slightly operatic songs like 7 Seas of Rhye are exceptional. I don't think there is another person nowadays who can sing WWTLF like Adam can and the power in his voice would boot you out of the arena. Some of the harder rock songs are a little less successful but still pretty good You would be hard pressed to find one singer in the world who can sing all the varieties of songs in the Queen catalog like Adam. He is one of the few and maybe the only one now who can sing everything well. There were quite a few singers to carry the load in the Queen Extravaganza show and also in WWRY. The most amazing thing about his voice is that he does it consistently night in, night out . Even Freddie could not do that. If anything Adam sounded stronger after the recent tour at the end than he did in the beginning. That is a gruelling 2 - 21/2 hours to sing with the types of songs that he does. There should be some credit for that.

As far as seeing him in 2012, he is a different beast at this point in time. I heard that first concert in Kiev and I cringed at a few of the songs. He is older, his voice has deepened and he has trained his voice for another 7 years. The vocal quality is far superior now than it was back then. Even Freddie didn't sound like Freddie for the first year or so I am sure. I f you heard him now., I am sure you would see the vast improvement over the years.

I am always curious why Marc Martel gets a free pass when he is the ultimate hanger on to the coattails of Queen. That is all he does pretty much, imitate Freddie and Queen and that is how he makes his money. Why is that perfectly permissible, yet you deride Adam for it?

Basically we all can't be Freddies. No one has ever said Adam is, as far as I know. He is a great singer and he is the vehicle to keep the music alive at the concerts. I don't get the animus towards him at all. He doesn't try to be Freddie, doesn't do anything to irk Queen fans and yet the majority of you dump on him.

Because Martel doesn’t sing with the band ? And there are no Martel fans aggravating long term Queen fans with silly statements.

Personally I never watch Queen cover bands. I did see QAL.

Haha, you need to get away from the Queenzone bubble and you'll see exactly what Martel fans and some Queen fans think of him, better than Freddie live, more consistent, would upstage Brian on guitar, has wrote music of his own (impersonator album) which equals Queen songs and that's why he should be with the band so they can carry on as if they were with Freddie because Marc can do everything Freddie could from songwriting to playing instruments and can sing live far better so they could make new music that would equal anything Queen already did etc etc, the list of delusion goes on and on!!!! My favourite one is it doesn't matter if he plays with the actual band or not because once Brian & Roger retire Marc will carry on Freddie's legacy and basically become the new Freddie!!!

Adam has nothing but respect for Freddie and the band and so do the huge majority of his fans which is another reason some Queen fans attitude towards him is ridiculous.

MM is a coverband singer nothing more and nothing less. SO I want him with Maylor? No. He is great on his own. QAL is pretending that they are still Queen which they are clearly not. They try to be the real deal but they are a lame parody of a once great band. And they have a powerles twat on vocals who looks ridiculous and sounds atrocious. A C-lebrity (I would vote for "D")

They clearly aren't pretending to be "Queen" they make it clear it's a collaboration of the remaining Queen members + Adam, no idea why that concept is so difficult for people to accept. As to the rest of your comment - lol.

Queen was Freddie John Roger and Brian. Why keep calling yourself QUeen when it clearly isn't. Just to sell tix and spit on their legacy by doing so. If they toured under "2 old farts and a twat " (which would be more than fitting) they would play to small clubs

Q+AL isn't Queen. Fact. If you think it is, that is inane, crazy really.
Don't worry, most of us know you aren't a Queen fan. You are sometimes the definition of a sparkle cow.

QAL isn't Queen and none of us maintain that, but it is the newest configuration of the group and that is what we can enjoy live at this point in time. For the umpteenth time Icy, I don't need to know what color ballet slippers Freddie wore or when he might have have taken off the crown in what particular show. I could give a crap and if you think that makes you a great fan, that is inane and crazy. Normal fans can sit back and enjoy and know the basics, just like Rockchic has also stated. If I have listened to them since the 1970's, bought their music and enjoyed them, that is all I need to do. There were no streams, etc back then to become so intimate with bands like nowadays. And some of us had very busy lives and no time to ever have sat and listened anyway. You sure take a lot on yourself to proclaim who is and isn't a fan, but that is what you people do and why I find the real Queen fans such a nasty lot. Showing your true colors again. I have stated a number of things about Adam that I am not into, so I don't think I

He has made quite a few missteps and his own music is not always my cup of tea. Nor do I follow him socially, care who he hangs out with, what he wears, his house or what plane he is on. I don't post at ATOP or go on and on anywhere about how wonderful he is (kind of like you do on here with Freddie). I just think he is one of the best singers in the world right now and his voice resonates with me. I would rather listen to him than anyone and I wish he had done an album of covers! It doesn't bother me that he doesn't play an instrument or write music. All I want is to listen to that wonderful voice, which is his gift. I also like him best singing my fav band's music. I post here because it bugs me how he gets run thru the ringer over everything and I feel I have to say something. Sparkle cow, no, big fan of the voice, YES!

I have my own informed opinions and don't need others to help me make them. I wouldn't say the Freddie's roadie would be a neutral source, probably going to be very biased actually. I don't like some things and you don't either. But I don't go around and slander that person and say horrible things to people who think otherwise. I can understand why some Queen fans wouldn't like QAL. But the things that are said about it are truly ugly. It goes way beyond not liking QAL.

So going by this forum, there must only about 20 real Queen fans as your sample base

But if indeed this is enough to form your opinion, why are you posting on the forum . Is it to share objective opinions or to continue a pointless debate about Adam Lambert.

AL will just be a footnote in Queens history that’s all. He also isn’t going to have a major solo career. At 37 he is already well beyond an age most pop/rock artists have produced their best work. I have nothing against the guy but you must know that.
