Very, very sad - a wonderful human being with an unrivalled encyclopaedic knowledge of the band.

Very sad news indeed, I can only echo the words that all here have said here. RIP Sir, you will be missed. The fandom was greatly enriched by your unique presence and generosity. To John's loved ones and friends my heartfelt condolence.
