Freddie was disgusted by the the thought of playing for private corporate events like that. He didn’t enjoy attending ones for like corporate staff on labels, and he wasn’t even performing at them, and would try to avoid them. Peter Freestone wrote about this and had said Freddie wouldn’t have enjoyed feeling like a puppet at a private event.

“Since when is a birthday party a corporate gig?”
Corporate, private. Not much of a difference... it’s a limited audience. Peter Freestone discussed this. Freddie declined those offers because, Peter’s words, Freddie didn’t want to be “a puppet” and thus is why he declined such things. Freddie was his own boss, not a hired band by some yuppies. Read Peter’s books, you’ll learn a lot.
Freddie preferred huge concerts performing for a general Queen audience and for anyone else who wished to come. The more people, the merrier.

What does that have to do with QAL? Nothing.

I bet there’s a lot of things Brian wished Queen had done concert wise while Freddie was alive.
Freddie said no more US touring, despite the other 3 wanting to back to the USA. Freddie had the upper hand, his say was the final say.

You asked about corporate vs private in terms of Freddie, therefore indirectly questioning Freddie’s view and I pointed you to a direction with some answers.

See how you confused me, anadamfan? You replied to me replying to rockchic65. I answered a question to someone and you wonder how it relates?

I'm sure QAL prefer the huge shows as well but Kym is a massive fan of Adam and has had him do birthday's etc for her before. Apparently this was for her husband's birthday and the fact she's recovered from cancer. Adam would have done the gig solo, he did the last one in January but maybe they wanted the whole QAL experience and the fact she's a massive animal lover and supports animal charities probably gave Brian a good reason to do it. Don't really know how the whole thing came about but they are huge charity supporters and have at least three charity foundations of their own so if they want to treat themselves and their friends to a QAL experience I don't begrudge them.

The only good reason Maylor did this was $$$$$. They would sell anything these days. You can twist and turn it how often you want. They have become greedy old farts
