Actually the Beatles did have one of their songs, Revolution being that song, used in an ad by Nike. They then sued Nike, the advertising agency and Capitol records and eventually settled out of court.
And here is the advert Nike used

I know why they're doing it, I just don't like it. It devalues the music. And once again, so much for Roger and Brian claiming they would rather be remembered as an album band while they relentlessly promote Queen's hit singles.

They were always very competitive, between them and with other bands.
Losing an advert contract in favor of another rock band is not their style, and money has little to do with this.
In fact the most competitive was Fred and under his brief musical leadership between 77-78 the band shifted the orientation from album to hits.
His lousy "democratic" idea of splitting the album to the four members produced great hits interleaved with subpar fillers.
It was the time when they were watching the musical charts like an oil magnate watch the oil price.
In conclusion, you don't know why they're actually doing it, and you don't understand that music can't be devalued by context.
What remains is that you (and others) don't like it because of a personal caprice, which you are totally entitled to. Thank you for sharing it.

You're still pissed that I schooled you over Brian's PhD, which you claim he bought. Don't take it personally. I often try to teach idiots the truth. It's a failing of mine...

I don't really have a horse in this race (apart from an absolute solid gold 5/5 gag a couple of posts up) but I do think music can be devalued by context.

Very keen observation, I've had it too, as have others. But well said, nonetheless. Even when they specifically state, at the outset of a tour, that they'll include deeper cuts to make fans happy, they're dropped less than 1/3 the way through the tour, leaving only... yes, you guessed it, the hits. Nothing wrong with the hits. But in the immortal words of Dr. Evil "throw me a friggin' bone here..."

I see over saturation. I wonder why Miami let's this happen.
I thought he didn't want to flood the market.

Yep. When QP's brand appeals mainly to the fickle masses, they will quickly move on to the next flavour of the month.

Wow I didn't realise they still used it. I'm sure I first saw it a few years ago. In fact I just quickly searched on Google and they first used A Kind Of Magic in 2015! Source: www.youtube.com/watch?v=apxoDY63z5c
Somebody To Love is currently being used in Visa's Christmas advert - I think it's a really good one perfect for this time of year.

Yeah I'm sure it's been on a while that one. Truth is, I steer clear of that sort of channel :)
