Well you can argue as to whether it's worth it or not, but I don't see a ticket crises, I just spent far too much time figuring out that the European tour has sold at least 260,000 tickets out of a capacity of 292,000 and pretty much the only seats left are high value ones.
Even at an average price of around 80 Euros, (Which I have set conservatively, the average will be way higher than that) then they've already cleared over 21 million euros.
How much of that will go to the band I couldn't tell you, but It's undoubtedly more than most of us will earn in a lifetime.
Seriously, just let me live off the interest on that for the next 9 months till the shows happen.
For a high profile act like QAL, this industry has become a way to print money.
But it destroys younger bands as money is spent on (crap) like QAL and no money left for smaller shows.
Like I said, for high profile acts. Once you get to 2nd tier bands playing 600 - 1500 capacity venues they are lucky to break even, and promoters wont even try to put on shows unless they know they'll sell out.
Bands social media pages are full of people asking 'Why dont you come to xxxx' and the answer is almost always because no promoter will take a chance.
Carefully planned month long 20 date European treks that become loss makers because of bad weather for two days in Zurich is no way to run an industry.
You can argue that top tier acts should charge less, but in practice all that does is mean greater profits for touts.
The biggest rip off by far is the ticket agency fees.
Sorry, bit of a bug in my arse about this. My local venue is a 950 seater, it's a great size for up and coming or waning bands. (Mainly bands on the wane that play tbh)
They have a policy where they charge bands an extra $5 per ticket sold for rentals if they set the price below $30. Who is that helping?
I know most tickets are way more than $30.. ($64 for a Kevin Smith podcast anyone?) but it hardly encourages new bands to come to town.
Having said that, Bob Geldof drew less than 200 people for his show so we the audience don't always help. (Shocking promotion for that show... no one knew about it)
...annnd still...not one sellout show and they've been on sale for how many weeks now?

People finally had enough of this shitfest. How many Greatest Hits tours can you do each year. Plus add up the doubling prices and there you go. Greed wont pay in the end.

Manchester is sold out completely and the others are well on the way, 02 don't have many left, Berlin has less than 100 normal tickets left excluding vip etc so by next year they'll likely be sold out everywhere.
Still not one single sellout and we're coming up on a month of ticket sales?
They have 8 months to sell the remaining tickets, and even if they don't sell them all they earn a fortune. I'm not sure I get your point. If you look at the ticket sales charts in Billboard magazine only about half the top grossing shows are sell outs. (Only 20 of the top 35 grossing shows were sellouts in the October billboard magazine). They are already trending above 90% sales, hardly a failure. Opinions as to artistic integrity notwithstanding, it's already a success.
Come on.people! I am sure the tour will sell all tickets!! We will have Queen+AL for years!!! ;)

And some people would have other people to believe I am the horrible one in this subforum.
The day I say or post something like this fucker did, then come at me to call me a troll, a hater, snifflese and SweetCaroline.
You don't say things as egregious as that, but you do more than your share of creating a vile, argumentative unwelcoming vibe in the QAL subforum.
