Superb boxset - great book, great sound, great extras and (especially) great price (I paid 65 Euro for the 6 CD and 1 DVD and all the extras).

Awesome album even if it is hated amongst WS fans. Love it. Vai is god.

Now compare this with the lame Freddie Box sex. Half of the content but way more expensive

Didn't click the link but the size argument - I'm sure they'd want quality over quantity. But with archival releases it's in the eye of the purchaser what is quality. A rough audience recording of My Fairy King from 1973 (for example) wouldn't make the cut for them, but those who 'get it' would get it.

It is Whitesnakes Slip Of The Tongue. You get the ALbum remastered with all B-Sides, 3 CDs of rough mixes and demos. One complete live show on DVD and CD. And the goodies like a book, tourbook reprint and poster.
The demos are great quality and there are various "stages" of the song mixed into one (without noticable transition). Very clever job and super interesting. In the Freddie box (and of course the Queen rereleases bar NOTW) you get nothing like this. It is a smaller box not such
huge dustkeepers. Well worth the money unlike the annoying Freddie box.

Yep, that was nice to watch. "Never Boring", fucking hell. They had some cheek to call it that, didn't they?

"Always Boring " might be more fitting. But TBH I ordered the MBG cd and album on vinyl. I guess it was money thrown out of the window as usual. Seems LMLTNT had the biggest sound differences.... I hope not but it will end up like this. QP as usual.

Sadly we will never see things like this from QP. They rather release GH 4

Such a shame. It really is.

No idea what anyone here is talking about, none of the links work... a 'box set' that Queen should do?

New Whitesnake Boxset

The problem is Queen are a much bigger and more successful band then Whitesnake. Why would they go to all this trouble when the hits are still raking in the money?!

Of course, this argument falls on its head when The Beatles have released 3 double CD anthology sets and also released 3 of their best albums in deluxe versions - all to critical acclaim once again.

QP seem to be going in this direction but in such a small and snail-like pace (eg the NOTW boxset, the promised Miracle boxset) that God knows if we’ll ever see something on the same scale - eg - 2 to 3 CDs worth of songs as works in progress, rough cuts ,etc and not some re-worked hybrid versions like on NOTW.

The never boring bluray of the videos actually looks decent but unless they release it as a standalone it's not happening , the box set is a crazy price for basically no new material.

There's been some good boxsets in recent years. I liked the Def Leppard hysteria set, (though it was incomplete). Whitesnakes 1987 was really good.
Alan Parsons eye in the sky has a shitload of bonus tracks and a brilliant 5.1 surround mix. The Marillion EMI boxes are decent and very well priced. Dark Side Of the moon Immersion edition was initially overpriced but had a wealth of excellent material in it. These are just a few I've bought recently.

There are blueprints of how to do it... every one of those I listed, I loved, but a quick check online shows that some people had issues with either the price or the content, so it's not possible to please everyone. Having said that, i wish the band would at least try more often.
Rainbow was good, hammy was overpriced but had good content, I love the NOTW alternates disc, but I realise I'm lucky enough to be able to afford it and adding some genuine standalone outtakes or demos would have made that better.
So they can do some good stuff, they just don't seem to want to release it. A constant drip leaves a poor taste.

Was really expecting a live killers set this year, guess we'll wait for 2029 now. I'd like em to release this stuff before I go deaf or get dementia. I'm almost as old as the band.

May is the one who does not want to release anything "in Progress" - I understand to a certain degree. Unfortunately we will see stuff like this when no Queenie is alive anymore.
The Whitesnake demos are particularly awesome because the mixed one song in different stages without noticable "transitions" - it starts with a rough idea and the song ends "almost finished" - amazing idea !
