Hello, Queen fans. I wanted to share a copy from my American DVD from 1998. It's We Will Rock You (Commemorative Release) fullscreen 4:3 version of famous Montreal concert. It seems it has not been uploaded here and I think it will be interesting for fans.
It's have already been posted here VHS fullscreen version and Brazilian DVD with compressed pixel image and two audio tracks. Here the image is much better. It would be interesting to compare quality with LD version. Hopefully someday we'll see it too.
It would also be interesting to work on remastering the video. Perhaps someday our good wizard Chief Mouse could work with this. And for release it would be nice to insert 2 audio tracks to choose from.
Thanks for the share! Although, I don't see any point of CM working on it since we already got a definitive version I think.

Thanks, I have never seen this version, just the 2001 version and the Rocks Montreal version. And I'm shocked by the quality, it's hard to believe that this was an official DVD. Also I don't remember the editing beings THIS bad, but I admit that I haven't seen the other versions in a while

Yeah, looks like the bitrate is way too low, and yeah, all releases of the WWRY have the poor editing and unnecessary overdubs.

Brazilian DVD already shared here, two audio tracks were included. But the pixelated picture was much worse, on US DVD is much better.

This 1998 DVD is using the same master as the 1997 LaserDisc release.

Unniendo, did you compress it at all?
I can't locate the US DVD import I got back in '98, but I thought it was on a DVD9 rather than a DVD5.
Also, there is no LPCM audio?
I remember it looked really good on my TV and I had no complaints at the time.

I have a copy of the 1998 US disc, and it's a DVD5, with only Dolby Digital 5.1

There were two DVD versions before the 2001 release with DTS (and AC3).
One with 24/96 LPCM (a revolutionary choice for that time, probably DVD9) and this one, both with the same cover.

There does appear to be two commemorative DVD releases, PA-96-56-D in '97 and PA-96-568-D in '98.

I have a DVD-9 copy of the 2001 release and here's the audio options and a screenshot of the codec list on VLC.
