My problem is not with doctorates in the UK, but with character and decency.
If the genuine, simple and true statement "I'm a professional musician (not a professional astrophysicist), the lead guitarist and the leader of possibly the greatest rock band that ever existed" it's not enough for him, then I believe that he has little character or decency left. That's all about.
You can't be in two places at the same time, it's a physics principle, he should know it better.

So because he sold a lot of albums and was an influential musician, he is exempt from accomplishing other things in life? And you are equating character with less achievement instead of more?
He IS a professional astrophysicist if he was employed by NASA. Full stop.
Thank goodness you are in an extreme minority. Most people tend to cheer on others to succeed instead of breaking them down. I sincerely hope you have zero influence on any children in this world - your attitudes are toxic.

Ahh, you felt the need to append your post with more utter nonsense. Congratulations on copying and pasting an entry from Wikipedia without actually understanding what it can and cannot be applied to.
So Bruce Dickinson shouldn't have become a pilot? Dexter Holland shouldn't be trying to cure HIV? David Lee Roth shouldn't have become a paramedic?
And Hedy Lamarr should've stayed in her Hollywood studio instead of pioneering the technology that is currently allowing you to write on this forum using wi-fi ?
What you're saying is YOU don't have the ability to do more than one more thing, and you're projecting it onto others who can. Classic inferiority complex.
You have little grasp on the idea of human potential, and your own shortcomings have clouded your worldview to the point of spewing hate on the internet. Good luck sorting that out.

Writing a research thesis after leaving school is common. I completed my metallurgical engineering research in 1985, but did not start writing my masters thesis before starting a job in 1985. I completed and defended my 200 page thesis and graduated in 1987.
There was another student who left college for a job before me, and completed his metallurgical engineering doctoral thesis and graduated five years later (after I graduated).

Brian's NASA employment is not the proof of his professionalism, on the contrary, it's the proof that once you breach the ethical frame of a profession the results are unpredictable and in some cases tragic.
What if Brian had started to study neurosurgery in the 70s, do you think he would have been invited now at Mayo Clinic to perform a brain surgery?
And why do you think neurosurgery and astrophysics are different, one demanding continuous practice and the other being a loosey-goosey activity.
Every profession needs continuity, seriousness, and daily commitment for a long number of years.
I can accept that for the sake of minor image benefits and for a little fun, Brian, his university and NASA bend the rules.
What I can't accept is that people involved, as well as some of you, think that this doctorate show is for real.

That's because most people aren't whackjob conspiracy theorists.
Give it up. You are a terrible debater, and your arguments are baseless twaddle.
You are trying to apply your limited understanding of the world onto everyone else who doesn't fit your mold, and nobody is buying it.
You should ask yourself why Brian May is widely respected for his accomplishments, while all you've accomplished is being a forum troll.

The recurrent theme of the accomplished individual contested by a mob of unaccomplished trolls is in fact a projection of your own understanding of the world.
Ultimately, it's about you and queenzone not about Brian May.

Nice try with the ad hominem. You can't change the channel that easily.
Provide some substantiation to your conspiracy theories. Until then, I'm done with you.

I just wanted to point out that, actually, you can be in two places at the same time - according to quantum mechanics.
aristide1 · Member since
Not really you but a clone identical to the last atom.
Quantum mechanics does not apply to Brian, he is unique and consumed a lot of energy to prove it, until his musical potential approached zero.
And the effect that some of Queen fans lost their patience during this process is a Newtonian one.

...which happens to virtually every artist. Nobody can write earth shattering music for 50 years.
At least Brian is doing something useful in his latter years instead of being like most of the old rock bands and putting out music nobody wants to hear year after year.
Your hatred (or jealousy masked as hatred) for Brian is all anyone is learning from this diatribe of yours.
