Interesting quote about Queen by John Lydon in this Rolling Stone article.
Is he talking about Sheer Heart Attack I wonder?

There's an interview with Roger claiming they played SHA to Sid Vicious who responded "sounds like The Cortinas" so seems likely. Backing vocals from Lydon though? That would be something to hear.
Good link!

Yeah imagine that, how great would it be a demo turned up?
Weirdly I only came across this article after my Wife was telling me how her Never Mind The Bollocks Picture Disc LP was stolen back in the day, she still mourns for it!

If he did sing backing vocals on a Queen song, my best guess would probably be We Will Rock You.

(...) Freddie recorded every line separately – sometimes just a word – and then they’d edit them... I thought only "the great pretender' was recorded word for word by Freddie.

Suitable word required....... BOLLOCKS.

Love the Sex Pistols and PiL.
Not sure about a single line, but I imagine they did do a lot of edits to get the best of the best in the studio while recording. I imagine there were single lines Freddie did over and over to tackle the way he heard it in his head. So fucking time consuming.

We Will Rock You has been well documented by the band especially by Brian as involving everyone who was available in the studio building to join in with recording the track from the roadies to the tea lady. This wouldn't be unsurprising in a way as it was only Sid Vicious that caused the problems.

He probably saw Queen had the time and energy to re record things on a multitrack tape (as opposed to him having to get things right in 2 attempts) and in his head was so blown away that he see's it as recording a song word for word.
He is still the luckiest person to ever make a living out of the music industry. Devoid of any musical ability whatesoever. Right place, right time, right t-shirt... bit of an attitude.
Enjoy your L.A. mansion.

If you don't like John you can always go listen to Lana Del Rey or Taylor Swift.

I don’t think it’s far from the truth. Something like death on two legs does sound like its done phrase by phrase. Maximum effort in every breath.

The lines in DOTL overlap (like KYA) so obviously were sang either line by line or every second line sung

Sex Pistols, a fake band totally created by a record company to fool dumb punks into thinking they've got something truly anti-establishment to rally behind. And, apparently there were plenty of sufficiently dumb punks, because this punk boyband made it. They could barely play, and all they had to contribute were mindless rage, violence and radical right wing views.
And then Holly sneers that if you don't like these idiots, you should hop over to dumb pop-music. Ever heard of The Clash? The Ramones? New York Dolls? Iggy Pop? There's plenty of good punk to be found, just not with the Sex Pistols. They utterly suck, and it's a genuine shame that the asshole John Lydon lives while Joe Strummer is dead.
