Did you see it yet? My family has seen it, but not me. I can’t believe the Star Wars saga has been going on for 42 years!

The first Star Wars movie I'm not excited to watch. I plan to watch it on Friday, but from what I've heard all of the rumours, which I thought were too dumb to be true, ARE true. Most of the people seem to hate it, but I have already seen positive reviews, so I'm curious to see how bad will it go. Unfortunately we won't see the original JJ Abrams/George Lucas version of Episode 9, that sounds kind of exciting.

I saw it yesterday and like certain parts of it that caught me by surprise. It brings back a lot of old bits from previous episodes to tie it all together. I still have questions because I am not an afficianado like other members of my family.

I have just came home from the cinema. Can't decide if this was the best from the sequel trilogy or the best one. It was a huge mess

Episode 9 was good enough that I did not look at my watch during the movie. Episode 9 pales next to episodes 3, 4, and 5, and does not distinguish itself from the other 4.5 episodes.

I did look at my phonewatch ONCE. And it looks like 5 different things happened during the 5 seconds :)
But yes, I agree, my "preference order" would be something like

Star Wars
The Empire Strikes Back
Attack of the Clones
Return of the Jedi
The Force Awakens
Solo
The Phantom Menace
Revenge of the Sith
Rogue One
Rise of the Skywalker
The Last Jedi

It did what it had to do. The problem was all the setting up of the various plot strands had to be done quickly at the start rather than be dotted throughout the previous films. It was essentially a stand alone film due to this. Quite why they didn't have an overall plan is mind blowing. I enjoyed some of it (hey it's star wars - it's a huge chunk of my life) but there were far too many 'WHAT' moments which generally prevented me from relaxing. It's taken this long to really get the characters - which took the originals about 45 minutes in the first film to do.
Mine list is more: 1) Original trilogy 2) Solo / Rogue 3) Prequels 4) Sequels but like picking albums, this is fluid and a couple of films sneak outside their bracket.

I gave myself a task for the new year out of 3 things the rest of the world has done that I haven't, they were...

i) Watch Friends from episode 1

ii) Read and watch the Harry Potter films/books

iii) Watch Star Wars

I chose Harry Potter because... Friends makes me want to wretch even if I just see one scene I am wondering what the fuck is so funny. Star Wars.. well, 3 is 1 or 1 is 1 there are the new ones and the old ones.. I have no fucking idea where to start and different people will tell me different things about where the start is..

Star Wars, Empire ... Rogue One is good. Everything else sucks force dick, especially Phantom.

Do the first made trilogy first A new Hope / Empire / Return of the Jedi. You can leave it there if you want. Everything else ruins it.

If you do that I'll do the Harry Potter films. I've never seen more than 10 minutes of any of them.

Watch the original trilogy, now known as Episode 4, Episode 5 and Episode 6. If you will like what you've seen, watch the prequel trilogy (Episodes 1 - 3). If you will at this time like the universe, watch the 2008 Clone Wars cartoon series. If you will love the universe and want more, watch the sequel trilogy (Episodes 7 - 9), and the Rebels and Resistance cartoons. If you ever get Disney+ and will like the original trilogy, I also recommend to watch The Mandalorian.

To be honest, one can watch The Mandalorian right after OT. I think they flow rather well together.
