Marc doesn’t have the natural charisma/stage presence that Freddie/Adam had/has! And no playful or funny sense of humor! He sounds like Freddie but I don’t think he can stretch his voice and be innovative with it. I did see him live in QE but it was back in 2012.
YOu might have been right in 2012 where he indeed looks a lil frightened on a stage. THis is 2020. Watch the videos (whcih you surely won't as it is even for the blind to see that he is way more charismatic than Lamebird and has a way better voice. As someone on here said (i don't remember who that was) "Go see a show" ;)
Lamebird is not innovative either - only if you count high pitched screaming and looking like a drag Queen innovative.
The biggest surprise of the show was how energetic he was on stage. Never expected that. MM is eating Lambird for breakfast.

I have to agree with your statement from the Vocal Battle thread. Martel at least sounds like Rock, Lambert sounds like some Las Vegas Musical (not my cup of tea). And, of course, Freddie kills both of them with ease! Because he's Freddie fucking Mercury.
Since this place is infested with AL cultists and their "allies", you better just leave them alone. Why even waste so much of your time arguing with the Church of Lambertology? I was mildly amused by the forum shitstorms, with them bitching and moaning, but it gets old fast.
And the person who started this thread is a Freddie cultist - not a Queen fan in the least.
This place needs a lobotomy. A thread like this would've been taken down and its starter banned on literally any other music forum.

Why am I no Queen fan you sad asshat? Just because I do not stick my head into May's ass like you do? THink again. YOu might have the two greatest Hits records and that's about it. At least judging from your non existant QUeen knowledge.

Where did you see Martel?.... i hope I'm not mistaken that you imply LIVE - *IN PERSON*, correct?
I haven't had the chance
Nuremberg yesterday. Go see him. He is far from a copycat and his stagepresence is amazing. He worked a lot if you compare him to old videos where indeed he looked pretty wooden which is what Glamtarts refer to. WHile he got better and better Lamebird got worse and worse. And I agree that Maylor might be half deaf if they think he is any good.
I can see why the did not chose Martel though. Technically he sings indeed better than Freddie as he does not shy the highest notes which Freddie did sometimes I give the Freddie haters that. They might fear he looks and sounds way too similar to Freddie which might bring up critics as well. Musically he is amazing playing awesome piano and lil guitar. he is becoming huge here and plays way larger arenas than Lamebird with his solo crap who is playing clubs
I agree his stage presence is far better than when he started, he's clearly worked at that.
Can't really comment on his voice live since I've only heard vids so I'll reserve judgement until/if I ever do see a live show.
Comparing him playing large arenas doing a Queen tribute show to Adam doing his own music is silly, when Marc sells out those large arenas with his own music instead of Queen's then you'll have a point.

Aside from the official narrative that they don't want a copycat (*i can truly see the reasons why this is valid)
But accepting the weight and timbre differences - yeah i can understand why one would prefer the songs given their proper weight.
Adam is pretty fantastic on a handful of songs, but makes others sound very paper thin and absurd at times.
Anyways my theory was that they've lost high frequency hearing and somehow his shrill delivery is the only way the guys in the group can hear the rock songs cutting through. Though they have lost high frequency discernment - they've at least been able to hear some of it overcompensated.
It's like the old ladies on the street suffering from vision loss (macular degeneration; generally) ....they overcompensate for the redness and lustre they can't see by dyeing it REDDER and REDDDDER!
But what comes out looks clownish to the average person. It's that the "machinery" is no longer giving accurate reports to the noggin/nervous system.
Similarly, the band likely hears a very reduced Version of Lambert.
At least ...that's a theory.
Otherwise they'd really think before putting the kid like voice out there on rockers like Dragon Attack, Stone Cold Crazy etc.
Though he was surprisingly good with IT'S LATE ...prob cause it's in such a high register.
Anyways that's all.
Where did you see Martel?.... i hope I'm not mistaken that you imply LIVE - *IN PERSON*, correct?
I haven't had the chance
That wouldn't account for all the fans who love his high voice though, they can't all have hearing loss in the high frequency. Having seen them live I personally think he sounds different than on recordings especially on songs like UP which was one I never liked on vids but really loved live. Some sound engineer once explained what he thought was the reason back in 2010 after seeing him live.
Do many LOVE it? Or do they just TOLERATE it to see Brian and Roger?
You were such a HUGE Queen fan back the day, you claim. Maybe they are as much of a fan of Adam as you are of Freddie Mercury.
Maybe that’s why his music has flopped... most of his American Idol fans grew up and moved on.
I’d maybe go to a QAL concert someday, but not to see Adam. Adam’s always sticking his chin out these days, he looks like a penis with mustache. Those terrible vocal screams. No grit.

Take a look on twitter after these last few shows and you'll see they don't just tolerate him at all, tons of tweets raving about his voice. Of course there will be ones who go to see B & R and aren't that bothered about Adam or even don't like his voice and put up with him but that's far from the majority.
I'm guess from your last sentence is you've never actually seen them live? If not then I'd reserve judgement on his vocals, I know from experience he sounds different live and that's not just me it's a common statement even from very early on, his high notes especially don't sound like they do on a video.

.... it is completely laughable to even compare Lamebird to MM. If you want to listen to Queen songs as they are supposed to be this is the man.
Anyone who said he is stiff and has no stage presence is totally off. He has worked on himself (I had my doubts from videos n the past where indeed he was a lil woodend) but he totally worked on himself. Completely another galaxy than Lamebird. Makes me even think more "WTF do they see in AL"??? And before you say he is an impersonater - he clearly is not. No Yellow jacket no moustache and surely no crown. He is the man for Queen songs. Fuck Lamebird with his powerless paperthin yodeling voice
Laughable to compare Martel and Lambert, but you do it anyway.
Do tell us how many tickets did Martel sell in this 11,000 capacity arena in Hamburg.
FlorianS · Member since
In Hamburg Marc sold 5000 tix (according to a local newspaper). I saw some videos on Youtube and found the performance overall very boring (as far as you could judge it from video). Saw him with QEx a couple of years ago and loved his singing.
Btw...hard to compare Marcs Tix sales when performing Queen material with Lambert performing his own stuff. I doubt that Marc has a market in Germany for his own stuff (which I like).

Yeah, Makka is right that this essential non topic tends to be the daily topic. With forthcoming releases at a halt or unannounced that tends to be the banter, whether a topic develops or devolves into it.
Understand how that could be regrettably annoying

Hi thanks for answering the question.
I actually wouldn't compare Martel with Lambert out of choice. And yeah I'd already been told that the gig was boring in spite of what runner_70 was claiming.
There is no question he can pull off Freddie's voice and do it well.
My actual reason for asking him about the number of tickets sold was that he was going on about it being a huge arena gig, I knew it wasn't but wanted to see what kind of stupid answer he would give.
The truth is Martel played to a half arena set up and still didn't sell that out, the actual number was a little over 4700. Yet runner_70 likes to inform every one that Martel shifts more tickets than Lambert and is on a level playing field with Q+AL. More of his twisted BS.

The only boring thing is you you twat. Martel shifts more tix than Lamebird who is playing divebars. Where did I write he sells tix like QAL you stupid fuck? But when I considerit: he did about 20 shows in Germany alone - if you multiply them you will see that he actually sold more tickets than QAL for their 2020 shows there. Stupid clown.

I've handed your ass to you on matters of music history dozens of times here - most recently when you asserted that three current members of Deep Purple appeared on their first album.
There's this new thing called Wikipedia - you should give it a try some time.

Martel shifts tickets because he's good at singing Queen songs.
If he was playing his own material, he wouldn't be playing the same venues or nearly as much.
