Queen let a few great songs slip through there fingers in there time as a four piece band in my opinion, and here is a few of my choices.
1. You & I 1976 This great poppy song would have been top ten as has the classic Queen sound of piano and nice guitar lick in the middle of the song and great harmonies and vocal.
2. Soul Brother 1981 Wow this song is dynamite and i love everything about it. Freddie's wonderful falsettos and Brian's blistering guitar licks and so clever how they mentioned various Queen songs in the vocals !
3. Hyjack My Heart This song should have replaced "The invisible Man" as a potential single because its better in my opinion and would certainly have been a smash.
4. Need Your Loving Tonight : Yes i know this was a single in America but here in the Uk we missed out on this rocker and what a song it was it is brilliant just love it.

Was You And I better than the two singles and lead EP track from Races, probably not, although it's a great song.

Soul Brother was a B side any radio station or DJ could have picked up on that one and played it but no one regarded it as good enough to be given air time.

Hijack My Heart, same as above.

Need Your Loving Tonight. Was it better than the four UK singles from The Game.

Sascha1971 Yeah "I go Crazy" was a great B.side and sadly should have been an "A" side i can also say that although "Body Language" was different for Queen i would have preferred "Put out the Fire" as the obvious choice of "A" side because it was closer to what fans expected from Queen.
I wonder if the record label had any say in what they thought the "A" sides should have been?

“Dancer”. That one simply deserved a decent 12“ mix..

Soul Brother and Hijack My Heart - glad you like them, but no chance in the charts. If I was to choose something, I'd probably go for Dancer instead of BL and Ride the Wild Wind instead of Headlong.

I feel like Put Out The Fire was a better single option than Calling All Girls. POTF is a little more Queenlike than the rest of Hot Space, and could have been a way to show than Queen still rocked in The States.

I hate Hijack my Heart, I hate it as much as as QAL, the movie and musical together.
Picture yourself in a boat on a river with tangerine trees and marmalade skies.

For me I’d choose Ogre Battle or Prophet song.

@sexmachine: Would you like "Hyjack My Heart" if Freddie took the lead vocals then?
I think Freddie would have turned that song into a masterpiece.
Remember when Roger sang "Heaven for Everyone" on The Cross album then Freddie did a version i think Freddie's version was better by miles.

I agree with You and I, very pop chart friendly and well done. Kind of odd that they didn’t release it as a single after the success of You’re My Best Friend, but perhaps with their (more in the early days, IMO) of not repeating themselves they didn’t want a sound similar to Best Friend coming out?? I’m not as wild about your others as singles, but could maybe be persuaded on Need Your Loving Tonight. I wholeheartedly get behind the fact that I Go Crazy should have been an a side and single release....I love that song! Hard to believe that pretty much only Brian liked that one.
Love is still the answer, take my hand...
