One of my favorite things is hearing older fans’ stories about the Queen concerts that they attended while Freddie was still here. However, there doesn’t seem to be an official repository for these stories, and I’d like to change that.

I'm gathering as many first-hand accounts from as many fans as possible in order to turn those memories into a book about the Queen fan concert experience.

Hi i sure did witness the greatest rock band ever in existence back in 79, 82, 84, 86 but i would have loved to have seen them in 75 but i was too young.
My memories of Queen are precious to me because kids of today will not know how brilliant a band they were back in the day with the four original members, they were mind blowing together on stage and bounced off each other musically.
The Magic Tour 86 at Newcastle and Freddie nicked a coppers helmet at the side of the stage for a few seconds and that made us all chuckle as only Freddie could have got away with that !
Queen at Newcastle City Hall 79 was a massive success and my very first Queen gig after worshiping this band for five years and finally got tickets to see them and i was not disappointed in fact it made me a bigger fan of the band.
Yesterday's Queen will always be the best musically and visually because they had a lead singer who knew how to present himself and the band that would eventually turn them into the biggest unique rock band ever.

I saw the band Live about twenty times from '76 to '86.
I also attended three video shoots in 1977, 1984 and 1986.

What great memories you must have! I'm envious since I never got to see them.

I was at ALL the London and Brighton gigs on the Crazy Tour in '79.

Tell you what I'll share my memory of the Tottenham Mayfair gig in '79, that one is probably most vividly embedded in my mind, along with Hyde Park in '76 and Drury Lane in '77.

1980, 1982, *, 1984 ( 2x), 1985 ( Live Aid), 1086 (2x) .... wished I had been old enough to see them in the seventies.
*= not a concert, but Musicland studios' hallway where a few fans were hanging out on a daily basis...

Could you give us maybe some more info on your book ? Will it be self- published ? Where will it be published ? How many people have already submitted their memories and how many are you planning to collect ? Do you go by countries / years etc ? Just asking as there appear to be several projects already in the making.

Sure! I didn't know there were other similar projects ongoing. Do you have any additional info on those?

I am working on a proposal to send to a couple publishers to see if there's interest, but if I have no takers, I'll self publish.

I just opened the questionnaire yesterday and have about a dozen responses so far, along with lots of verbal interest from those who have said that they will respond soon. I'm planning on keeping the questionnaire open for several months to gather as many submissions as possible.

It'll be organized chronologically, by tour and concert.

I was fortunate to have attended their only New Zealand concert in Auckland 1985 at Mt Smart Stadium. While there were many accounts of Freddie being "drunk as a skunk" on stage, i was so mesmerized of seeing power of Queen on stage, i never noticed this. To this day, i still remember his opening words...."Hello all you kiwi "motherf....kers",. That got a massive roar from the audience.
I still have some concert artifacts and would be happy to share the memories.

went to the show, snuck back home at 3 am only tofind my family murdered by way of keyless entry via the window i snuck out of...

Brutally beaten in parking lot
abandoned by date/significant other
trashed and puking the bathroom while the best part of the show carried on

Etc. .

Matt Z, I am so sorry to hear that those things happened to you. I can't imagine what it's like to have to live through that.
