I don't think they are capable of creating the "old Queen sound." They may do songs that sound familiar, but I think things have evolved for them so much that its impossible to re-create something that sounds classic.
Invincible Hope is a great song, although it is a bit repetitive. I think it bodes well for Brian and Roger, and I would enthusiasticly support any new material. But these attmepts to re-do old stuff is getting boring.

Hello there, the biggest Valensia on QZ (I think :-)) is here....
Well, I mailed with Valensia some time ago and he said he was hoping to get in contact with Brian & Roger... Haven't mailed to him in a long time, but I can always try & ask :-)

There has been much in the way of rumour as to the possibility of QUeen plus new lead singer. Jeff Scott Soto being mentioned. However, I tend to the view that if it going to happen ( and that's a different ball game), then Valensia is the right man for the position. Simple as that.
A good source informs me that a copy of his Tribute album has gone to Messrs May and Taylor....we can but wait and see.

Indeed, Valensia would definitely be fit for the job. He writes excellent songs, some in the Queen-tradition and some in his own style (which is great too :-)) and he isn't THAT wellknown, so it wouldn't be "Queen + Well-Known Singer"... Plus, a collaboration with Queen would finally give Valensia the appreciation he deserves - he's definitely underrated at this moment... If any of you can't find Valensia songs online - contact me, I can give you some samples... I know Valensia is ok with his music being downloaded - he even mentioned it in his Gaia 2 booklet! Of course, I also bought all of his cd's :-)
Next month will see the release of the Metal Majesty (Valensia's new band) cd - I hope it sounds like the track The Moon on Luna Luna, his mini-album from 2 years ago :-P

Have you ever seen a picture of him? ;)
But he makes really good music :) I really like the collaborations he did with Robby Valentine.

Well, I like Valensia... he made some good music I think.
Same goes for Robby Valentine, why not try it with those guys.
It's better than Soto or that famous Australian singer (forget his name).
I know it's not Queen, but it's better than those crap pop stars.

Well, Valensia has just cut off most of his hair, so you won't mistake him for a girl anymore ;-)
I think that IF Brian and Roger want to work with a new vocalist, Valensia is thé choice - he is not well-known (Gaia was only a big hit in NL + Asia I think) (so people won't say "hey, didn't he used to sing [insert title]" and he has an excellent voice + great songwriting talent. However, I seriously doubt Brian and Roger want to write/record music with Valensia... They seem more interested in the damn musical...
Howver, I REALLY, REALLY hope Brian listens to the cd (I doubt Roger will even care to put it in his cd-player) and that Brian will like Valensia... I doubt there'll be a Queen + Valensia record or similar, but I'd love to see Brian & Valensia work together - two great artists, two brilliant guitarplayers, 1 brilliant singer (V) & 1 a bit less brilliant singer (BM) :-P... Brian always has worked with all kinds of artists, so let's hope he doesn't mind doing some stuff with Valensia :-P
Paul - if you like Valensia so much, why didn't you buy the KOSMOS album? It's hard to get these days... I wonder how much money the recordcompany lost on that record - it was/is the most expensive record recorded in the Netherlands (I think it cost somewhere around 250,000-300,000 dollar to make - and it didn't exactly set the charts alight :-)).... Well, it seems that good music just doesn't sell these days...

"Ok... my question here is... Who's Valensia??? Don't know anything about him"
Check www.valensia.com. He's a Dutch artist, who had a quite major hit in 1993 with Gaia. After that most (well, all ;-)) of his records flopped, due to bad promotion & a change in the music-industry. He still releases stuff - his last cd was a Queen Tribute, released in May of this year. He writes in all kinds of styles, reggae (The Sun), pop (Thunderbolt), metal (The Moon), Queen II style (Mercurian Mystery March) etc. etc. Some people blame him for sounding to similar to Queen/Freddie - even when his first album was recorded in 1993 his recordcompany did everything they could to make it sound as un-Queeny as possible, to avoid the "Queen-ripoff" label... Contact me @ webmaster@pimderks.com for some mp3's.

A collab between Queen & Valensia would be much better than those done with Five,RW,John Farnham etc. That I'm sure off!
A collab with Valentine would be interesting too IMHO :-) Valentine and Valensia have some stuff in common in
their music and style, though they still
remain different in their own music.
I'm very curious what Valentine's new
album will sound like! Release Feb. 2004.
Note: Valentine was support-act for Brian in 1993 and is also a huge Queen fan. His early work is quite rock-opera style. Later work has more pop.
