"This concert is for Africa, so I kind of find it disrespectful that more African artists aren't on the bill"
No, I don't agree. This concert is for the rest of the world who will donate money to help fight against AIDS. So they need as many well known artists as possible. If Brian or Roger weren't there, I wouldn't even know about this concert, that's reality. I don't watch MTV and our newspaper mentioned this concert yesterday for the first time.

Yeah, but it's basically nothing... Not like you can hear the drumming and say "That's Roger!" :/

Oh right I forgot, this concert is about attracting attention, not to raise money for less unfortunate people who are dying by the hundreds every day.
Silly me.

attract attention=to raise funds. would you be watching it right now if there were not Queen in it?

Irish Music is, in my opinion, rather crapy- but this, along with a bit of Electric Guitars, is great !
Just bring on the Full Out Rock Music !

Indeed. As I'm not watching it, I really don't have much room to comment, but think of it this way...if Live Aid hadn't had some of the biggest musicians on the planet, and instead had Ethiopian musicians (the concert was for Ethiopia, if I remember correctly, right?), who would have attended the shows? Would anybody have watched? Would they even had been broadcast?
But because they got all those musicians, including such high-profile names as Queen, Led Zep, The Who, Phil Collins, Sting, Bowie, U2, Paul McCartney, etc., people tuned in to watch. And because Bono, Annie Lennox, Dave Stewart, Brian and Rog, and some more contemporary artists are showing up to help out today, people are watching and are helping to raise money.

I dont think it is about the attention, it is all about whats behind it, the cause.
Still I think that African artists should've been featured more. It would take the thought out of peoples minds that there is more to Africa than AIDS, famine, and poverty. Now, that's reality.

oh my lord.
i hate to say this , but roger is so old guys,he is not the magic tour rager or not even the tribute concert roger, i think he has to retire too.
I feel so bad for the oldman when he tries to play drum like the old days.
but he is still sexy, handsome roger taylor.

Think of it this way. Let's say I were to start my own charity concert in order to combat sandstorms plaguing downtown Philadelphia, and announced that I would be the only act for four hours straight. Would anybody really give a toss? People might agree that the sandstorms are a bad thing, and they might donate to help reconstruct our sandy city, but no one will really care if I get up on stage and recite, say, Shakespeare's unabridged works in Swahili.
But if I got a whole legion of musicians, every band or artist who ever had a No. 1 hit record between 1955 and present, to perform live at a concert to raise awareness and funds for sandstorms, people will start paying attention and will open up their wallets - not only to help out, but also to see some of their favorite musicians perform. You gotta give a little to make a little.
