I've got a little story to contribute towards the Queen - radio topic. I'm working for a local radio station in Nuremberg/Germany and we do have a feature called Music Monday. The general idea is to introduce an artist with a pre-produced feature, and to play two of his/her/their songs per hour. So I volunteered to do a Queen - Music Monday especially for the 24th of November. I did prepare three features (1970-76, 1976-84, 1984 - now) and a so called "playlist" stating when a certain song has to be played. So far so good... I handed everything in after one week of preperation AND surprise, surprise the hosts and DJs totally ruined it! They played songs I did not select (Radio GaGa or We Will Rock You anyone?), and they gave commmentaries like: "This is what we were listening to when we were young - we didn't have anything else" or "my favorite song is the one with this Spanish woman.. what is it called?". I knew some of those guys don`t like Queen but to listen to my work being butchered on air was awful.

not really on th eradio theme... but we have Queen's "thank god it's christmas" on our Xmas music tape @ Matalan...it keeps me going through those long hours of slaving away over 'jeans folding'!!!!

Before the Freddie box-set our local station was having a charity day where you could ask for any song. Anyhoo someone asked for Larry Lurex and trhey put out a plea for someone to bring it in because they didn't have it. They played it, and Brian will kill me, but I taped it off the radio the first time I ever heard it.

"There was a time here in Venezuela, when A LOT (and when I mean it, I mean it) of radio stations who only played Salsa and a lot of bad music taste."
Salsa has much more depth than Eminem or Nickelback. :)
