I think it's stupid and wrong to download tracks that are MEANT to be sold for CHARITY if they are not paid for!
Why not ask your parents if they can buy you the tracks if you don't have a CC of your own? I would. My dad's pretty nice when it comes to some favours I ask of him.
Is it really that hard to let go of a quid/dollar for a song? Why make such a fuss outta this? These are great songs that are being sold for a great charity and a great cause! (Excuse my repetition)

i was always amazed at the bands support and wide range of fans
lately i am amazed at how ignorant -self serving- and hypocritical some of them are

Damn Dark! Your dad seems to be a cool guy! I was almost going to ask you too.
Its up to the person if he/she wants to donate some money to the charity or not. It all depends if the person expresses the desire to help a cause, not because there are tracks to download. I think its quite unethical, you know, donate some money and for "free" you will get to download these tracks. However, that's how capitalism works, if you want people to be aware of something and help, you have to give him/her something in return. That isn't donating isn't? Donating to a cause has to come from the individual's concern, not because you will get something in return or some famous person is promoting it (wether its by real personal intentions or good PR).
I believe that Brian's comment in the first paragraph was enough to explain his disdain about the illegal downloading of the 46664 tracks. The second paragraph was clearly unwarranted, and still not a good PR move if he wants his fans to donate to the charity.
It's quite funny that the video of the concert is available for FREE on the site, and still supposedly is illegal. There are programmes that code mp3's or videos in order not to be save on to your hard drive. Now if only Brian figured that out, we wouldnt be having this discussion.
Leaving a Queen message board, or not buying anymore 'Queen' related material because you feel offended by Brian's comments is very pathetic IMO. Brian, Rog, and John will still be earning money if one fan drops the fanbase, and/or decide not to buy anymore 'Queen' material.

Shoujo - "It's quite funny that the video of the concert is available for FREE on the site, and still supposedly is illegal."
No. It's there to be streamed and watched online. It's there for our pleasure. A nice surprise to see. But it is not to be recorded and then passed around for download. That's illegal distribution in the first place! Not to mention bad for the charity.
The concert footage shown on UK tv wasn't that great. But when someone puts footage online for others to download, that's breaking laws. And again, wrong.
Lucy - "I do donate to several charities. They are here in the US. Where I feel it is needed more so than abroad."
Do tell, what are they? I always thought that Africa was the one place where things were the worst in the world. Or do they get enough attention?
Peace,
Adam.

Vim Fuego - very good post about Sun City. Didn't Freddie say something like "a lot of money are to be earned there"? Nobody cared about apartheid.
In defence of proton I have to say he's a stepford since the very beginning, it's impossible to change him. He's basically a good guy, he only has a strange opinion on some of the Queen activities :-)

"It's directed at HIS fans? Are you sure it's not a widespread message to all. But not excluding Queen fans"
Who, but his fans, is going to access his website and read the message? Certainly not your average Joe that's for sure.
I'm all for stopping the downloading of songs and giving artists their royalties (and Charities in this case) So while I agree with his views on downloading from the internet, I would say the wording of his message in this case was ill advised.

i think itsn't right to remeber the period of suncity because now they tried to redress that fact and they have showed belief in doint it.yes, suncity was a bad fact in the queen story but now brian and roger are tryng to show that they made a mistake and are tryng to remedy. After the 46664 it's useless to remebr the '85

They took risks by broadcasting it on several mediums, just like when Electronic Arts (for example) does when it releases a new computer game.
If an artist goes to a mall and hands out 10,000 copies of his new album for free, he can't complain afterwards why no one buys it.

I think it's such a stupid thing to share music or videos ideated for a charity purpose. Brian is totally right in becomin' hungry abuot this. It's not simply a fact of stealing something like a musical product. This is something different. Downloading that songs (or video or anything else) you are upsetting the entire idea of this concert, that is NOT to make music to entertain people or like a form of art, but to use it like a vehicle to help people in need. Yeah, the entertainment and artistic factors are present indeed, but this time they are not the goal.
I agree that sharing this kind of stuff is equivalent to being a jackal. Some people maybe say "i download this to see it in prewiew, and then i'll buy the stuff" but do u really think that there are so many people sayn' this?
I haven't donated, and i am not so hypocrite to say the contrary, bot i'll never dwnlad that stuff. Maybe i'll buy the dvd with a friend, just because i like it. Simply i don't belive in the utility of this events. But i'm not sayn' i'm objectivly right and i'll not destroy the work of people that belive in them.
