Hi, I was thinking today, does anybody really care about Aids? I mean, who gives a Sh*t about those africans, you people say you care, but you dont really, your just happy cos your getting your hands on new Queen songs cos of these africans. You wouldnt have even watched the 46664 thing if it didnt feature Queen. You dont even pay for the downloads, you just get them on kazza and all that, so theres no point of that concert really cos all you want is new songs and you dont give 2 fucks about Aids. Just cos Freddie died of Aids, you pretend to care and you listen to every news clip and docu. of Aids just to see if they mention the words "Freddie mercury" and then maybe they'll play a clip of a Queen song like. Come on, be honest, You dont care.
"your shit and you know you are".

DudleyPufkin, fuck off. You're more fucked than I am (plus you're as fat as Dudley Dursley)

Where I worked there was an Aids sufferer, it's Horrible what that poor Love went through!

And Dudley, there would have been no way that Queen wouldn't have been involved in 46664 - they funded most of it basically, the concert and stuff, so it's impossible. And even still, lotsa people would've went to see the other big stars at the concert anyways, who ironically are getting more press than Queen are

Wow, slow down! Don't say things you can't take back

Well, that's my opinion on him. And I don't like him.

If he goes crying to his momma, that's not my problem, is it? ;(

DudleyFufkin, there's so much true in your post. Especially that part about watching an AIDS report only because you wonder if Freddie going to be mentioned. I confess, I'm pretty much everything that you mention. We should care more, but you know, most people have lots of problems themselves, they don't have time to care for other peoples problems.
Not those are losers who fall, but those who don't stand up.

It is true, I don't do anything about Aids, i just did till now that Queen are doing it, sad but true

While our poster here was quite blunt and rude about going about saying so, he does have a point. I know this concert (which I watched because it had Queen in it) motivated me to try and do something about the AIDS problem in Africa, and everywhere else. Maybe it was more of a motivator and a source of information for us Queen fans...

Whilst Aids is clearly a terrible disease (don't mean to be flippant), exactly how many millions of dollars does it cost to tell folk to 'Stick a Johnny on it' before striding your mount for a good gallop?

It can't be that expensive.
FLASHMAN STRIKES AGAIN! Paul Rodgers is not the best thing since fried Fred.

Right Flashman.

On NPR recently, they said that AIDS was up alarmingly in the past year, opposed to it being down for the past 10. The contributed this to the homosexual population first, bi-sexual men second, and drug users and then blacks. The gay population is being very lax in what they do, and in preventitive measures. While the drug users, are, well, drug users. The most disturbing part of it for me was when they said the inner cities just don't have the knowledge that the rest of us do. I think that is complete shit if you ask me.

Who cares?!?!? what the hell? i care for those people with AIDS! I'm very concerned about AIDS... I wish people would fucking stop worrying about Cancer and find a damn cure for AIDS instead! (didn't mean to offend anyone there) but its about time we did something! it's a world-wide problem, if you ask me.

54%
The percentage of the estimated 43,000 annual U.S. HIV infections occurring among African-Americans

More than 75%
The percentage of HIV-positive adults in a New Orleans study who do not reveal their HIV status to casual sex partners

One every 14 seconds
The rate at which young people worldwide are infected with HIV

New HIV diagnoses were up 26% among Latinos, 8% among whites, and 17% among gay men of any race. "We have to raise the possibility that this could be indicating a resurgence of HIV in that [gay male] population," says Ronald Valdiserri, the CDC's deputy director of HIV prevention.

By 2010, the report said, about 20 million African children will have lost one or both parents to AIDS. In countries worst hit--such as Botswana, Lesotho, Swaziland, and Zimbabwe--more than one in five children will be orphans by 2010, 80% of them because of AIDS. Even in countries where HIV prevalence has been stabilized or lowered, such as Uganda, the orphan crisis will grow as already infected parents die.

While the Indian government reports that about 4 million people have HIV disease, most aid agencies say the figure is much higher. The Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington has estimated India will have 25 million cases by 2010

Half of hospital beds in the Democratic Republic of Congo are occupied by people with HIV/AIDS, the United nations secretary-general's special representative to the country said December

Iran has 5,780 registered cases of HIV, including 700 AIDS cases and 634 deaths, a health ministry official said in newspaper reports published on World AIDS Day. However, several experts said in the same reports that the real figure was 30,000 to 40,000 cases. The official said that 95% of the registered cases were men, while 63% were injection drug users

An estimated 1 million people ages 15-49 have HIV in Russia. A Moscow survey of boys ages 15-18 cited in the U.N. report found that 12% had used injection drugs. In St. Petersburg 30% of drug users were male teenagers. And while females made up 24% of new HIV diagnoses in 2001, they represented 33% in 2002. Consequently, there was a sharp rise in mother-to-baby transmission.

HIV epidemics continue spreading in Belarus, Moldova, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan. "Driving these epidemics is widespread risky behavior--injecting drug use and unsafe sex--among young people," the report says.

Nationwide, African-Americans have contracted HIV faster than Latinos or whites. But from 2001 to 2002 in Texas, HIV spread faster among Latinos than black Americans. Texas recorded 1,033 new HIV cases among Latinos in 2002--up 25% from the year before. Between 1999 and 2002 state HIV cases among Latinas rose 63%, from 126 to 205 cases. And because many HIV cases among Latinas go undiagnosed, experts say the numbers may just be a sign of things to come.

The chief of the Asia and Pacific AIDS Society said Tuesday that HIV looms as a greater long-term security threat to the Asia-Pacific region than global terrorism, with infections throughout Asia set to outstrip those in Africa within a decade.

"We have already seen in Africa that once HIV starts affecting a lot of people, you get the beginnings of a societal collapse because the people who get sick are disproportionately in those age groups societies depend on to keep them going," said Dennis Altman, society president and a La Trobe University politics professor. Regional statistics are sketchy, he said, but HIV has already infected millions in Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, China, and India, and it is expected to kill 10,000 Cambodians each year for the next 10 years.

and there you have it......
i got a way with the boys on my block.. :-)

I must admit that I was in that position. I watched everything AIDS related due to Freddie dying, but then in 1993 a friend of mine told me he was infected and died in 1994 so since then its been pretty high on my agendas. Ive donated and always wear my red ribbon with pride...the same one I was given at the Freddie Tribute I hasten to add! wow a 12 year old ribbon..how mad??? lol
Chom own mudder fukker.
