And cancer isn't a world wide problem? True, cancer can't spread by infections, but there's still no cure for it. I find it important to find cure for both diseases and not say "They should find a cure for this one first, and then for the other one".

Krizzy, IF I didn't care (although in fact I do), the odds on me becomiing an AIDS statistic are extremely slim, as going by IE's post, white monogamous heterosexual non drug using men appear to be the safest group on the planet.

Incidentally, I'm not sure why being white or of African origin makes a difference once we're discussing a first world nation like the US, but I bet it would be a tricky discussion to have in any kind of public arena.

Penetration_ Guru -- Maybe you are right and you probably 90% right, but someone you might know may become one. According to World statistics however the longer the disease remains out there it will mutate leading to different and perhaps even more dangerous strains of HIV.

Perestroyka, I hope your mum gets the therapy she needs and has chances to be a long time survivor. I don't know how old you are but if your mother does not allow you to be tested, you should seek help from an AIDS/HIV organisation near you. They can advise you how to address the situation. I just hope with all my heart that you are not infected but if you are, it's better to face the situation. You can quickly find an AIDS organisation in your area on this website

I disagree. It is TOO broad a generalization. In my opinion, saying that NONE of us care and that we just want new Queen stuff is kind of a slap in the face to those here that are active in the fight against AIDS in some way. Maybe these people were sparked by Queen in some way to get involved(IE. Freddie getting AIDS), But does that mean that they are just being selfish because someone they loved and admired had something to do with the whole thing (either dying or becoming involved because of that death)? No. Does it mean they just PRETEND to care because they hope to see/hear something about Queen or Freddie? No. There is a such thing as compassion (no matter how little of it we see), Some of us actually DO care. And as for you Dudley, You are nothing but a fool. Think before you post something so stupid or just don't post at all.

Kate,you did offend people out there. (me, for example) How can you compare cancer to aids? Is aids worse? I dunno I never had it, but I had cancer though and I can tell you I am very glad there was a 'cure'.
I am sure you mean well, just don't use such words please. Iff one day someone you love (or perhaps you yourself) will discover they have cancer, you will remember your own words. I hope you will be healthy for the rest of your life. And I hope someone will find a cure for both cancer and aids. Nobody deserves to die like that.

Although Dudley's post is designed to wind people up, it is for the most part, true.

perestroyka,i think you need to sit your mom down and have a long talk with her, as the sooner you start on the medication the longer and better quality of life you will have ( that is if you are unlucky) i used to have a few friends that had hiv and aids and it really is a soul destroying illness, not only for the person but the friends and family also, i no longer work as a buddy but to everyone fighting this battle, all the best wishes and best of luck in the world.
