Look for the first beat. The first beat is "heavier" then the others if you understand. ONE two THree four ONE two THree four, or in 3/4 ONE two thre ONE two three etc etc

OH, and Waltzes are always in 3/4 time

In the lap of the gods and Drowse are 6/8.Millionaire waltz is 3/4.So I don't think this is the common thing.
