Dark, Inu, or whatever you prefer these days, your ideas seem to be turning the forums into a totalitarian dictatorship full of censorship and bannings by poll. You seem intent on turning Queenzone into Nazi Germany (sorry if that offends, but read his post!!).
I'd prefer there to be "silent' mods or administrators: people who keep a watch out for all messageboards and if anything gets out of hand, then the thread is closed.
[edit] I'd nominate myself to be a Mod, but I'm not really around all that much. I still think it would be fun, though.

NO MODERATORS!
I think it's fair to say that that's one of the things a lot of people (such as myself) like about this place, that they know their stuff won't be deleted or edited.
As for updates to the forum, I firmly believe that less is more, and that avatars and quote buttons are unnecessary and confusing (from my brief sojurn in QOL when this board crashed).

"It's not like we need 15 mods Dark - 4/5 at max I think. People who can be online a lot @ work/school etc."
I never suggested any amount of MODs, Pim. I think one MOD is effective, if not two, because we're not THAT huge of a BB.
"I'm online 90% of the time from 8.00am till 11pm ;-) "
And I'm also on during breaks at school and at home during good parts of the day as well
"And we'd just have to make some rules. I'm not a fan of certain people here either, but that shouldn't be a reason for me to ban them and/or edit their posts."
My point exactly. Like I said, if we have what we consider to be a big problem, the solution is to set up a poll regarding the issue. Let's say this was an issue:
Some people want smilies. Some don't. What do we do? I would set up a voting poll to determine what the majority want, within a certain amount of time.
I may as well be a politician, considering my views on how certain things go. And I may as well take care of the polls here as well, depending if people here call for them or not.

"Several people i can think of for moderators..."
Yeah, to list people is one thing. But to go through certain processes is another.
1) Will they have time for the job
2) Will they promise not to abuse their position
3) Do they hold any personal grudges against anyone
4) What is their view on freedom of speech
5) How do they view a MOD's duties as?
6) Are they influenced by QOL heavily?
See, I would qualify because:
1) Yes, I have time for the job
2) I wouldn't abuse my position, and if I felt the need to do something, I would consult either you guys or Richard before I did anything, as I feel a MOD has to let everyone aware of his or her duties and what they intend to do
3) No, I wouldn't hold any personal grudges against anyone (except for Baer, but that we can discuss later)
4) I feel anyone can post anything that is appropriate, and the only censoring part I am for is for the censors of adult language, as we DO have young posters here
5) Again, I feel the MOD has to make sure everything is in order, and if someone uses adult language, that they can give the poster a warning to change their post (or edit either way), and if that person doesn't listen, that the word gets censored
6) No, I dislike QOL

And I do not believe in totalitarism. Screw the Nazis, for one thing
NoOneButYou1975 · Member since
hell most people out there cant handle a boob on tv so why adult language..
Lester Burnham · Member since
That's a stupid idea, at least regarding adult language. You say you're anti-censorship, and yet this is the ridiculous idea you propose? Censoring a NAUGHTY DIRTY CURSE WORD??
I, for one, think that's ridiculous, stupid, and utterly absurd. Much like your proposal to be a mod - if that ever happens, I'm getting the **heck** out of here (didn't want to offend our younger viewers!).
The point is, if you're old enough to go onto the Internet, you're old enough to learn about the sleazier sides of real life. I can't imagine a parent being irresponsible enough to let a young child go onto the Internet unsupervised, and if the parent is that dysfunctional, then perhaps the child deserves to learn the curse word anyway.
[edit] you may not believe in totalitarianism, but read your post again. What you're suggesting - if someone disagrees with someone - is basic McCarthyism! It won't be long that we'll have a witchhunt to get the poor sod who double-crossed the Mods of Queenzone because he had an opposing viewpoint. And it's all because of a poll. Polls are stupid. People will go along with popular decision, even if the presumed guilty are innocent. There will always be differing opinions, and yet banning someone for an opinion they believe in is ridiculous (whereas banning someone for posting "penis" repeatedly is not).

I'm all out of ideas, so if you can do any better than me, you guys, be my guest.
Or feel free to ask me questions I may not have thought of in the first place
inu-liger · Member since
Well, Lester, if you guys believe in that part of freedom of speech, then by all means go ahead and approve it. But don't come whining to me or Richard if a younger member complains about the foul language and wants us to stop cursing.
Like I said, the MOD has to act on behalf of the majority of the people's interests, just like a democratic gov't does. So even if I hold different views, I cannot totally force my views on other people's views. If the majority don't approve of something, FINE. I'll abide by their decisions. But I AM welcome to introduce ideas and to try and get some influence, but not to force my view on others, despite how some of my other posts may appear, depending on how one interprets it
inu-liger · Member since
And even like I said, even if as a MOD I wanted to get rid of Charles personally, for example, I won't do that unless the posters here give me the OK as a majority (in a poll, like I suggested)
AC · Member since
I say: "No smile. AC for moderator!" ;-)
-fatty- 2850 · Member since
Well you can strike my name from the list of candidates for a start. There is only one man capable of moderating the board and that is Dark.
fatty.
Lester Burnham · Member since
Clever, actually. It may be a good idea to get Dark to moderate the board, after rereading his post. Perhaps I was a bit too harsh, but if there's one man (boy, whatever you are) who can bring about the deconstruction of Queenzone, it's Dark.

we dont need mod's
if it bother's you ignore the topic, so simple but yet so hard to understand.
I would agree with Pete on too many different forums, all we would need it is, Queen-mp3( lets change the name to Queen collectors, mp3's are so old fashioned now) and Personal and maybe "Coventions", with topic lock so that are dont get 20 topics about other things.
