Well, sure she can sing, whatever... but wouldn't you want someone like better then her to be in a Queen movie? I don't know if I can explain... but I feel that she's totally coming out of left field and it just seems weird to have BEYONCE in a QUEEN movie. The combination is just... strange! Haha

But it sounds like the movie isn't a Queen movie per se, but instead a movie of the WWRY musical (what an astonishingly brilliant and apposite idea, by the way - why not then make a musical of the film?!).

For the part of Killer Queen, Beyonce may be just about perfect. I dunno, I've never seen the musical. But whatever, I just don't like people calling obviously talented people untalented.

Sorry... I don't want to start an argument but I just think we're all entitled to our own opinions. :0)

I agree with Bohardy this is more of a musical film, rather than a Queen film.

Still I remember that Roger or Brian said on a US entertainment news show that there will be a Queen movie, about Queen or Freddie with that McCormack dude from Will and Grace.

I just don't understand why a film so soon about the musical. I reckon that Brian, and Roger are going to produce it right? And perhaps DeNiro's film company would back it up.

All I can hear from reading this article is the sound of more cash registers ringing.

"I just don't understand why a film so soon about the musical"

Uh...why do you keep saying that? The musical is almost two years old and it'll start production in 2005 when the musical will be almost three years old!

"All I can hear from reading this article is the sound of more cash registers ringing."

I'll bet you wouldn't say that about something like Rocky Horror or Chicago. Now the Chicago film was a cheap ploy in cashing in. Just look at the Oscars from last year. Nice pat on the back, eh?

"they should get someone with real talent."

Well, as far as I'm concerned someone who CAN sing well and has appreciative fans must be talented. Someone who is not talented will not get far. And that doesn't mean, won't become famous.
If you don't like someone, just say it. That's the reason you don't think she's talented. Saying that Beyonce isn't talented is a bad cover for how you really feel. And even then, I feel it's unwarranted.

I think we should be talking about the more interesting aspects of this news. I'd be really excited to see what the sets and locations are used. Can you imagine the imagery that could be involved!? It could look amazing. Especially the wastegrounds. And let's not forget, a Freddie statue and a Brian guitar hailed in a film!! Oh yeah!

Peace,
Adam.

I did state that I hate Beyonce... so I'm not covering up anything.

...Or is 'hate' too strong of a word? :)

The point being that your hate blinds you to the fact that she is in fact talented. I don't listen to her music or herself much. But she is talented.

All I could get out of an online translator were two words - "width" & "unit" in German. It must not be simple German or the rest would come through.

No-one's denying your right to hate her; just try to recognise the difference between somebody having no talent, and somebody being hated by you.

The two notions aren't the same.

The reason why I said it was so soon is that, concerning the US, the musical hasn't even opened yet. What if the musical doesn't succeed in the US? Then when the film is released it will probably bomb due to the bad press (this is hypothetically speaking), then it will be a waste of money. I don't mind if they do a film, it isn't my film. I just think its suitable to wait a little longer before going into a multimillion dollar venture.

In the case of Chicago, that musical has been around for years. Mostly everyone knows the story.

I have to agree on Rocky Horror. That venture was surely a risk, and I can recall it bombed in the box office, but then became a cult film.

See films based around a musical are either hits or misses. It just worries me that this new venture might affect Queen's reputation (although IMO this already happened a long time ago).

We just have to wait and see.

A good point. But I think you're forgetting their plans for doing a tour in 2005. And the film itself is only starting production in 2005. Then it'll take some time to film and then for post work to be done. By then, it could be late 2005 or even early 2006 by the time it reaches the cinema.

Brian has also updated his soapbox with the news that the Las Vegas shows are still going ahead. And with all of that going on in the US alone, I'm sure it'll get some attention. Especially with a star such as Beyonce involved. It'll gain even more interest.

Peace,
Adam.
