Instrumental sharing project

I don't know if this has been brought up before, but Radio Shack has a device called "karaoke mate" that connects between CD player and stereo, and removes lead vocals (centre balance). It can be used to produce results similar to some of the MP3's that I've heard.

It works OK, but can be a little noisy. But that's what you get from Radio Scrap.

A friend has used his karaoke mate to create new mixes of songs on his 4 track. The device can sometimes bring out the backing guitars louder than the main guitars, for example. Also, he discovered something about phasing the audio with his Mac, that will produce similar, and remove vocals, too.

Yeah, there are vocal removal tools in software too. The results vary depending on how the song was mixed originally. I have yet to find a song that really works good this way. (except some Beatles tracks which do really interesting things) It's okay for karaoke I suppose, since your own voice will cover up the remaining vocal, but they come out mono and missing more than just vocals.

But these were actual professional remixes from the Queen multi-tracks before I tampered with them to extend them.

They're amazing, I'd buy the original CDs if I had the cash... ;)

Here's one to finish up disc one of the original karaokes. For this one, I've increased the volume a little.. the original was much lower than all the rest for some reason. Also gave it a little reverb at the end as the original just sorta cuts off.

First off, I think it's fantastic that you've gone to the trouble of creating and posting these. It's fascinating to hear things that you've never heard before, which was always the joy of Queen for me. Well done my friend.

If it's from the list, Under Pressure it is. If it's anything, if you can do It's Late you'll be my hero forevermore.

I wish I could do 'It's Late'. That wasn't included among the karaoke mixes though. I do have the semi-rare promo single edit which I re-created digitally and shared the other day briefly, but nobody seemed to notice :-P

Does anyone know why there are no karaoke versions of Innuendo and Headlong? To me they would certainly qualify as being "Greatest Hits", but why the omission from "Greatest Karaoke Hits"?
