I don't condone it, nor am I against it. But it is the law. Just like capitol punishment. I hate it, but for some states, it is the law.

***No one can know for sure what is right or wrong, because opinions differ on the subject. We just have to judge what we consider right and what we consider wrong from how we think and from how we see the world we live in. How can you say that straight marriage is so more right? Fact is, as long as someone disagrees with you, you can't claim it to be right 100% for sure, but you're entitled to your own opinion anyway. As long as straight marriage is OK, I don't see why gay marriage shouldn't be OK. Marriage is marriage, what does it matter if there's different sexualities - people feel the same way!

*** Look, humans could very well procreate without being married. It's as easy as getting into bed, having a good time, and then probably she'll be pregnant already. Bringing kids to the world is something you can do without getting married for it! I'd say that marriage is for two people who love each other to create an official promise that they will live together and be true to each other. It's just a way of claiming love forever and getting it down on the paper for everyone to see, and it's smart because there'll be certain rights coming with the marriage and that'll cause less conflicts. Now,Gay people love to, gay people can be Christians too, gay people should be able to get kids (through adoption) too, and the same freaking rights should count for them!

-Not true in all accounts. I have several gay friends,and they think that a civil union that carries the same rights as as a marrige would would be just fine. That is really all they want. To be taken care of in the case of death or separation from their partner.

*** Then let them have a civil union at least, with the same rights. Still, that is to discriminate towards those gays who are Christians and who'd wish to have a Christian marriage. You can come here with sayings from the Bible if you wish, but I think that even Christians should be in for a little change by now.

There is nothing in the Constitution that says gay marriage is illegal, that's why they want to amend it. Our Constitution (with a few changes over the years, such as the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments) is a great document. It's not to blame here.

Lucy ok, first of all, I do not judge is it wright or wrong. I do not claim anything, I simply want to say that all people are the same and should have the same rights. No matter of their religion, race or sexual orientation. You say you have gay friends who also think gay marriages aren't right? Ok, fine, it is their choice. But why shouldn't gay people who do want to get married be able to do it? At least civil marriage. You know, there is this thing called TOLERANCE. The way we treat other people is the best indicator of what kind of persons we are. I also didn't say this notice board is full of homophobes, but the world in general. And unfortuntely it is true. The fact I am Queen fan doesn't have absolutely anything to do with my views about gays and gay marriages. My folks have always taught me that all human beings are the same, long before I met Queen and Freddie, and that I should respect everyones choice. So if two man want to get married, I don't see why not. So you see, I don't judge anything, I only want all people to have their right of choice and I fight for it. I can only imagine what kind of shit those people must suffer all their lives because people (not all of course) are intolerant, racists etc. I hate that. So what if there is a law?? Aren't people those who create law? And laws can change. And if I can help in any, even the smaller way, so that all people could have the same rights, I will sure as hell fight for it. First, my point was: Marriage was not invented to increase the number of pregnant women, otherwise infertile people would not be allowed to marry.
Second, you don't have to test a 70 year old woman, you can be sure she's infertile. Still no-one ever thought about forbidding such people to marry. Point: Marriage does not depend on the couple's ability to make children. Not that difficult if only you ever wanted to understand me (or anyone).
Third, you didn't answer my other questions. That's a bit disappointing, but then again I didn't expect useful answers.

As I said before, I am not for it nor against it. I just know what the law says. Just like me. I am known to smoke grass from time to time. I don't think there is anything wrong with it. However there are laws agaist possesing it, and using it. So why should some get special treatment because they are gay, and get married and break the law. If I got caught smoking, I'd go to jail no questions asked. If you shoot or rob some one the same thing. But even the Mayor of San Fransisco is above the law. That is a bunch of crap. NO ONE deserves special treatment. Whites, blacks, gay or straight. I htink thats why I'm against this until something is done with it. If you want to leave it to the States to decide for themselves, then let them. I'd be all for it. But don't flaunt your gayness 'above the law' attitude.

Very well put honey. Then let the governing factions decide in legal way. Not a way that blatently breaks the law. Just because people are gay does that make them diferent from me? Or you? There should be no special treatment for anyone. We all want equal rights. But defying laws is not the way to get them.

If two gay people want to marry they don't do anything wrong to anyone. And why do you babble all the time about fucking laws?? As I said, and other pople here, laws are made by humans, and humans make mistakes. Laws change all the time, if not, we would still be in caves. Someone mentioned slavery - it's a good example. Laws once allowed someone to possess another person. So you see that laws often suck. It was sick, and it didn't change untill people who were against it reacted. It is indeed the same thing. A law is a law. You break it, you pay for it. As I said. If I break the law, I pay. Gays break the law even THE MAYOR breaks the law....nothing is happening. Why? don't ask me. You have to abide by laws. If you don't, you have chaos. And that leads to other trouble. I am far from closed minded. I know what I like and don't like. You keep missing things I write. I don't know if you don't or can't understand them, but I'm not going to hold your hand through the entire thing. You'll discover for yourself someday. Maturity and understanding comes from age. Something this board is lacking. This isn't a funny topic. Just because you think that gays should be allowed to marry (which I think they have a right to the same thing under a different heading) doesn't mean you can break the laws of the country or the state. I totally agree with you on this one. We don't have to defy the law, but we can sure as hell try to change it if we think it is not fair or human. The worst thing is just to sit and act like it is not our problem.

And I agree with you. Until a law is passed, I have to stand my ground on this one. If it is passed that its ok, then I am happy for every body. I love gay people, and have nothing at all against them.

And I hate arguing, so lets call this one good, I respect you and your opinions on this, and happy that you have a stand for what you believe in. :)
