I'm with guitar hero all the way on this one. Religious people scare me
T
Hoopdiddydiddy,

It may be a surprise to you that I'm a religious person too. I just tend to look at religion from more of a historical and theological point of view, and that gives me a very different relationship with God than that of someone who is religious purely on faith. Not all religion is bad! Remember, all religions of all levels are exactly what the people have made them.

In the beginning there was the question.
And then geeksandgeeks did ask what the question was.
And dragonzflame did tell g&g that GH did ask something about some performance by Brian May.
And the question was answered by someone.
And the topic was hijacked.
Well, not hijacked, it was bound to become a discussion on religion after people got angry.
And it did become more interesting.
And many found it good.

Catholics are (intelligent)! Man I (love) them. They always have an opinion about everything. At least Roger didnt like religious people.

-hope that's suger coated enough for all. Afterall we live in a perfect world where everyone loves everyone else, right??

oh gosh, jasen, i just can't stop laughing...

that was, by far, the most ignorant post i've ever read. congratulations!
T
Yeah, I agree.

Jasen, although I'm probably the last person you'll see supporting Catholicism, your comments are still pretty ignorant and closed-minded. Don't make a bad name for my country by posting crap like that.

Thanks guitar hero, I guess you're right there but I still can't understand how people can believe something they've never seen and only been told about or read in a book, I guess they were well and truly brainwashed when they were poor innocent youngsters, it's easy to brainwash kids. Me? I'll believe there's a god when I see it with my own eyes and not before, and also not with the aid of drugs.

Just a thought. Imagine if you went to a deserted island somewhere and had children etc but never mentioned any of this god business to them, then they'd have children and so on and eventually you'd die then then people might come to this island and mention god to them, they'd say who the hell is god. Granted the story has flaws but you get the point I'm trying to make right? If none of these stories were instilled into us as youngsters then the thought would never even cross our minds.

Plus I think the world would be a much greater place without religion to seperate us all up. John Lennon's Imagine hits the nail right on the nose if you ask me.

Well enough of my incoherent rambling which none of you will probably understand and if I read through I probably wouldn't understand. Take care care and hope you all have a good day.

I always felt Jesus was a black man personally. And I was raised a catholic.

Well,

dont worry, I went to confession yesterday after i said all those nasty things and im now one hundred percent forgiven! Jesus told me he loves me too!!:)) ahhh

Gee, it's kinda odd when YOU run a certain religion down it's hate...but when a certain religion preaches: no birth control, non equality between the sexes, hatred towards gay people, and so on...it's considered holy. I guess that's why the Nazis where so close to the Vatican.

I don't have a problem with most other religions...it is just that catholicism is so....well i don't want to go down the name calling "hatred" road again.

THere are good people who are catholic...yeah okay, ill admit that...but, to tell you the truth, i used to think that the only people who where catholic were mobsters and child molesters. As for the pope...well he looks like an old vampire.

Poor old Jesus...the amount of money and power the catholic church has made off his back is enough to ponder the questions:

On what day did god create the pope? and couldn't he have rested on that day too?? hehe

Jasen, one thing you should remember is that not all Catholics think that exact way. Many are anti-abortion and anti-gay at all times, among other things their religion has told them to do; but many Catholics are not like this. Perhaps it would be safer to say that you dislike only those Catholics who think that way. From my experience, I have met very few Catholics who live exactly as the church wants them to. It's good to see that these people are still thinking for themselves, while looking up to the church just as a means of reference - not a crutch.

"If none of these stories were instilled into us as youngsters then the thought would never even cross our minds."

I'd have to agree there. If that were the case, then a lot more people would actually look within themselves for strength, and not somewhere else.

But we must keep in mind, religion is not just a faith thing. As I pointed out before, it can be a theological and historical thing too, and on that level, it can be highly educational. I will forever maintain that people who only search the bible for historical truth are completely limiting themselves.

I grew up Catholic and now I'm recovered. I am a pagan now and have be for a long time. Even though I don't believe in Jesus as the son of God and I don't believe the bible I still believe in everyone's right to choose what makes them happy. I also believe that people will have more impact by example than shoving religion down people's throats. I live in the bible belt and we have street preachers at red lights and standing outside of bars quite often. Freedom of speech is one thing but being annoying or offensive is another.
Ginger Rogers did everything Fred Astaire did, only backwards and in high heels.

I also can't stand being pestered about religion. At my university there are these Asians (invariably) who go around and talk to you when you're sitting alone trying to eat your lunch/study/sleep. You try to be polite to them, but honestly, if I wanted to find God I'd go looking for him and I don't need people trying to show me the way.
