P_G,
By chance, can you give me all the solutions to 16x^2 + 9x - 4 = 0?
:)
Now just let ME find them...
MamaQueen · Member since
I'll try it, but I'm rusty and I may be wrong.
What do you think?
16X^2 +9X - 4 = 0
16X^2 + 9X = 4
x^2 + 9X = 4 % 16 = 1/4
X^2 + X = 1/4 % 9 = 1/36
X + X = V1/36
X + X = 1/6
2X = 1/6
X = 1/6 % 2
X = 1/12

a=16, b=9 and c=-4
The quadratic formula ...
x1, x2 = (-b +-(b^2 - 4ac) ^ (1/2)) / 2a
=9/32 +- 337 ^ (1/2) ... to lazy to get a calculator - but not to lazy to open an old math book ...

MamaQueen's solution is very elegant, but unfortunately there were two errors that I could see. Anyway ...
1/9 + 3/4 -4 = -3 + 2/9 ... not 0

Boy, am I rusty!
Bob the Shrek, the site helped me realize that.
"MamaQueen's answer is very elegant" :->
Thank you, you are a gentleman. But elegance in math/algebra doesn't count when you're wrong, right?
Anyways, I nominate myself as the most ignored Queenzoner. LOL.

MamaQueen - I didn't even know what quadratic maths was until I looked it up!

Assuming my calculations are correct, and they probably aren't...
There are no real solutions to this problem, because the value of the discriminant (b^2 - 4ac) is negative.

You are making the age-old error of negating the equiditional content of the prefinitive, which in this case is clearly cross-indexed with the semi-decimal value of the Optusic Factor.
It's simple hemistetics really.

Huhsawhodatoothichickabah???
Flashman, what, if anything, does that mean?
QEs are a fairly simple concept, man, it's not like I'm talkin' Greek :)
