By far it was the BEST show of the RRHOF ever produced!
Prince opened the show with style! Man! He still has it! I was blown away by his guitar soloes! FFS! Prince wowed the crowd!
Also mmmm he is still a sexy motherfucker ;) :D
Prince's acceptance speech was good. The constant repeat of the word mentor threw me off a bit. But he was telling the truth that mentors should never be on your pay roll.
Bob Seger's and Jackson Browne's speeches were also touching.
The Bob Seger, Jackson Browne, and ZZ top performances were CLASS! They delivered it! Traffic performance was awesome. Windwood still has his graspy voice in shape.
I was laughing my ass of when Keith Richards was inducting ZZ Top hehehehe.
Of course, my highlight of the night was the George Harrison tribute. Tom Petty and Jeff Lyne were so sincere that it almost brought a tear to my eye. Petty asking everyone to shout 'Hari Krishna' was moving.
It was funny when Dhani (oooooh aahhh) Harrison confessed to had broken the first award his father won for his contribution with the Beatles back in 87.
The tribute performance for George was amazing! Lynne and Petty filling the voices of Orbison, Dylan, and Harrison during the song 'Handle w/ Care" was superb.
Still it doesn't beat Prince's ROCKING solo of 'My Guitar Gently Weeps' WOW! WOW! WOW!

I agree with most of what you've said.. Bob Seger's voice sure isn't the same anymore though.
Prince definitely was the highlight. Not only is he the coolest frontman but he has the very best musicians and a massive talent for arrangements. Simply perfect playing. I kind of miss the old 'mysterious' Prince though. He's too down to Earth these days :-P
This was my first time seeing Dhani. Once the initial shock of how he looks wore off, he seems like a great young man. I found this very entertaining article where he discusses his favorite music among other things:

Yeah I agree, in a way, that I too miss his 'mysterious' side, but I heard that he converted to Jehovah's Witnesses. So that's why he's more down to Earth. Still, he can still rock.

I agree w/ you Marie, Prince was amazing. He is going out on what is to be his last tour, I hope I can score tix to it. Yes, his solo on WMGGW was excellent. You can see he was clearly enjoying himself. Playing purely for fun. It was a great moment.

OMG george harrison's son IS BEAUTIFUL! i was glued to the screen...and PRINCE WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOTDAMN! that was almost too much for me to handle last night hahah...i've always been captivated by prince...especially since we share the same birthday! june 7th! and the as my guitar gently weeps part...that is one of my fav beatles songs...that was amazing...i'm glad i got to see that!

Most people missed the point Prince was stating. It was a direct shot at the thug-friendly Hip-hop world. P. Diddy was in the audience and it was clearly a direct slap at him and his entourage. Personally I think that P. Diddy, whilst a clever businessman is nothing more than a thug who used his muscle to gain fame, I've seen more gang members/criminals in his organization than any other artist.
Prince made a sad but true comment about hip-hop and funk music today, bottomline, today's music is less about the creativity and more about the money. That's unfortunately what happens when you let corporations rule any industry and that's why most of today's music is so shitty.
There are exceptions but few and far between and those are the ones who fight for keeping music a creative force and less a corporate force.

I watched most of the show. I taped Jackson Browne's great performances, lol Springsteen's induction speech for him was halarious! Traffic was great as was Seger (even though he seems to be letting his teeth go bad but that's okay! he doesn't care which is the cool rock and roll style thing! :D) and ZZ Top. I'm not that big of a fan of Prince but it was cool he got in. All around a good show and a cool bday prezie last night even though the vh1 people probably didn't know. ;)

I'm of two minds about Prince's solo during "While My Guitar Gently Weeps." On one hand, it was excellent and should be a reminder of what he is still capable of after years of coming close to "Michael Jackson weirdness" territory. On the other, it seemed inappropriate to showboat like that during what was supposed to be a tribute to George Harrison. He seemed as if he was trying very hard to make it the "Prince show" instead of being more respectful.
