Well, I finally got to see the much talked "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" clip. Oh boy, I had entirely forgotten Prince could play the guitar :-P Great stuff.

On one hand, it was excellent and should be a reminder of what he is still capable of after years of coming close to "Michael Jackson weirdness" territory. On the other, it seemed inappropriate to showboat like that during what was supposed to be a tribute to George Harrison. He seemed as if he was trying very hard to make it the "Prince show" instead of being more respectful.[/QUOTE]
Prince has always tried to create controversy at the worst moment. Remember in 1995 when artists marked 10 years after the release of the 'We Are The World' single, for the campaign to raise money to fight famine in Ethiopia? Well, Prince had the great idea of pulling a pathetic publicity stunt to show his hatred towards Warner Bros. Records. So he decide to have the word "SLAVE" written on his face while he was sucking on a lollipop.
However, I have to give all kudos to Prince to show morons like P.Diddy and Russell Simmons that black music is more an art form than the pathetic money making machine they have turned it into.

My thoughts exactly, Mike. Prince is a brilliant brilliant man but... sometimes too arrogant for my tastes.

Did he not decline an invitation to take part in the original 'USA for AFrica' for fear of being upstaged?
Back on topic, Prince's showboating at the RRHOF was perhaps a bit much (particularly when he threw his Guitar down and walked off before the end), but his solo was undoubtedly shit-hot,and, Dahni Harrision and the rest did not seem to be too offended. Besides, I think such antics were to be expected from Prince - showboating is what he is good at it.
Speaking of which, has anyone else heard his newest material ('Musicology')?
